1980 - Letters page & BJ McQuade always wrote in

Once upon a time they used to publish the name, address and age of any child who got a letter published.

Always looked out for BJ’s letter in the pink and my dad would comment on what he had to say. Family ritual

Good old BJ. Always a letter weekly, always opinionated. Often wrong but never afraid to speculate. Alas Craig Johnston didn’t stay at the Boro forever and he never pulled on an England shirt for a full cap. Sadly 2 U21 performances only.

I wonder if BJ had to contend with a queue of people at his front door, begging to differ with his latest letter.
'Scribes' was their self-ascribed title, iirc.

I am proud to say that, as a young man still in school, I nailed the Star letter in the sports Gazette, one Saturday.
I raised a point that Boro should look to the lower leagues for players after the successful purchase of Simon Coleman from Mansfield. :)

Try your not you’re. You do struggle with this differential. Bit like sauce and source. Education system fails again!!!

Wasn't there another one who was in there every week? Can't remember the name. I seem to remember him as a bit of an idiot - apologies if it's someone's relative!
