16 days to go....

If Watmore plays this season as one of our main strikers we will struggle. Full of running, but not quite good enough for me.

Midfield? Mcgree comes in.
Centre back? Lenihan.
GK? Roberts.
Right back? Spence.
Left back? Bola.
Up front? **** it play one of the kids.

This is if the transfer window closed one and a half months too early.

I love the way people just ignore the fact that our best player last year was an u23 player that would never have got a look in if we had shitloads of squad players clogging up the bench.

If it would make any of you lot happier I could hop on a bus and give Levy a Chinese burn until he signs off £20 million for Spence.
Remind me how many goals did Coburn get? Presently he has potential - no more. It would be fool hardy to believe he could be a main striker- the lad isn’t up to it - yet

I just hopped on to a random championship forum to try to prove my point that all clubs are in this situation. First one Blackburn. What do you know. They're not happy with the transfer business they've done so far. In fact they are moaning about other clubs in the championship doing better than them.

One specifically seems to have got under their skin.

Blackburn haven't signed anyone except for a 19 year old youth player who was released by Preston, of course they're not happy.

They've lost a third of their starting 11 and another third of them are only still there because of 1 year extensions in their contracts.

I'd be worried if I was a Blackburn fan too.

Maybe foolish, but I think there’s more potential in Kavanagh. I’d like to see him given a chance up there.

Mate. It won't hurt if we play coburn for a couple of games. We have until the end of August to sign someone else.

Did you look at that link I posted?

Nope. I don’t believe in giving other clubs a head start through not being able to win games due to our inability to put the ball in the net.

Need a big week IMO next week. Sign a couple of decent strikers and the world would look a lot brighter

Have you read the link? They are asking why can't we be more like Boro who have signed zakk Steffen. :D
They're wondering how we are staying under ffp.

They won't be having a head start. Loads of them will be stuck in chains too.

Did you read the link? You might find it reassuring that we are being held up as a paragon of forward thinking and decisiveness by another set of fans. It's good to get an outside perspective.

4 signings to date suggests otherwise - when we are 8 players or so less.

FFS worrywarts give the club a chance!
The club is dealing with these intricate and difficult transactions as best it can and the overly pre-emptive whinings on this thread are providing ZERO value at best.
Thankfully deaf ears remain turned!

We are missing hall, Connolly, balogun, Lumle payeroy. Do you honestly think that these players would have an impact in the opening four weeks of the season?

Another question. Would you prefer it if we signed 2 strikers now for a couple of million, or wait until the end of August to spend the Spence money on forwards.

Work with a Blackburn fan. And he is worried. Preston fan I work with is "meh" mid table. Neither club done anything of note in the transfer window.

sign steffen and the TEAM is already stronger than last season. A better keeper and LWB are huge improvements.

Losing sporar, balugon and pally fanny's biggest fan doesn't weaken us as in the very short term kav, josh and even big uche can do a job. For a top two tilt we wiill need quality at the top end of the pitch but all these histrionics about how we need those players in now is ridiculous! Sound like geordies!

I have only noticed West Brom really on the transfer front and they have been mainly free signings out of contract.

There is a log jam, but in addition the Spence situation must be having an impact on our ability to recruit even if it is just FFP.

Two weeks to go I am not worried yet. Everyone knows where we need strengthening and it’s up front.

Did we really bid for Henry?

Slow an steady wins the race 😆 i can’t ever remember us getting all our players in well before the season starts 🤔 I’m sure most other clubs fans are saying the same kind of thing as us tbf. It is what is, as a well known Saltburn lad once said 😁

That just proves my point really. I said anywhere other than defence and were knackered.

We've got McGree to cover all 3 positions in midfield and no one to cover in attack.

There's also a huge difference between Jones stepping into the 1st team at 22 and expecting someone like Kavanagh to do the same at 18.

Yes but the big point is this is for the first few games. We'll have more in by the end of August.

From memory the transfer window we did get a load in early was monks season. That's a good example of what happens if you rush in with your wodge of cash out.

I don't have time to wait until you get a third reserve forward in! I want Ashley Fletcher and I want him now!

Well he'll cost you. We want 5 million.

Here's 7.

You're more optimistic than me Sheriff!

I don't have any issues with us waiting and making sure we get the right people in for some positions, as I said it's just the lack of depth that worries me.

We have 7 games (8 with the cup) before the end of August which is a huge chunk of points to be won or lost. We can't expect the majority of the team to play every minute of every game in that run and that's before thinking about any potential injuries etc.

I get why people are frustrated, the club will have decided/known long before the end of last season that the three loan strikers would not be here this season.

Is the delay purely down to waiting for the right people to become available? or funds in place to complete a purchase? If they get it right, nobody will care whatever the reason.

I'd like to see a striker on a permanent transfer before the start of the season. We can add a couple more loan or permanent before the deadline and I think we'll be fine.

Keepers look like they'll be sorted soon, defense & midfield need a few extra bodies, but we have good cover and versatility already in the squad to cope until we add more depth to the squad.
