16 days to go....

The difference is though, most other teams won't be needing to sign the same amount of players that we do.

We've known this was going to be the case for some time now so I was really hoping we'd have 5/6 new players through the door at this stage at least.
I wouldn't agree with that at all. I'm sure teams who finished near the bottom would like a ******** of new players in.

If we kicked off tomorrow thanks to the additions of Roberts lenihan and Giles we would have a better first xi than last season. (Assuming reports that these players are decent are correct. I've never seen them)

A striker would certainly be nice before the new season kicks off. Other than that they could start tomorrow.

I would say 90% of Championship clubs are in a similar position to us. Late August will be daft.....with all supporters moaning about transfers not getting done earlier.
I'd be much more worried if the clubs expected to be around us end of the season had signed 6-7 decent players.... .but they haven't.

We'd actually struggle to put out a squad (first 11 & bench) of senior pros at the moment?

How many subs allowed this season? 7 again?

I was thinking the same thing.

Its not the glamour signings that worry me because I get that they can take time and things will move once the Prem teams start letting players out on loan etc.

Its the sheer numbers needed that I find a concern because we don't have enough senior pros to even field a starting XI and bench at the moment.

Good. Put some of our kids on the bench. Give someone from the U23s a chance. We did that last season and it didn't work out so bad for us.

Roberts
Djiksteel fry mcnair
Jones Giles
Howson crooks Tav.
Watmore coburn

Daniels
Bola
Lenihan
Mcgree
Plus three kids

That's the disaster line up. Steffen looks done. If we can get in a striker to replace coburn I'd be happy. The reality of the transfer window is that we are part of a chain. We need the club's at the top of the chain to conclude their business before we do ours.

There’s some absolute tosh written here about other clubs and not signing players. Check this out before stating it as fact. Cardiff, Burnley Hull have signed a shed load of players.

A total myth clubs in the Championship are not signing players- and a smokescreen used by some posters who are unwilling to recognise that up to date it is a pretty poor show from us

Goalkeeper, left sided CB, cover for Jones at RWB, 2 (maybe THREE) strikers, only 4 midfielders for 3 positions now in Tav, McGree, Howson and Crooks.
GK: Zach Steffan - Loan - TOMMOROW
CB: Jacob Greaves when Hall & Coulson find new clubs?
RWB: Tommy Smith - Free - TRAINING WITH US
ST: Rodrigo Muniz - Loan - IMMINENT
ST: Adam Armstrong - Loan - I'm guessing when Djed Spence
ST: Thomas Henry - Permanent - type player when Uche & Akpom find new clubs

Tavernier/Maybe one other? - Gibson & Hackney going for it in pre season.
Crooks/Howson
McGree/Boyd-Munce

Out of six maybe seven... 3 are there or thereabouts, we were close with Thomas Henry, we bid for Jacob Greaves and at least one of our signings will be dependent on Djed Spence moving to Spurs.. you would have thought.

Plenty of time.. halfway done, 16 days till the start of the season and we've got until the 1st September to tie up any loose ends

As things stand, this will likely be the squad we put out vs West Brom.

Roberts

Jones
Djiksteel
Lenihan
Fry
Giles

Howson
Crooks
Tav

Coburn
Watmore

Subs: Daniels, Smith (assuming he signs), Bola, Boyd-Munce, McGree, Finch, Kavanagh.
Is McNair on his way out if he isn't even on the bench?

The Greaves bid was rejected by Hull

From the interview the owner implied it would need to be a much bigger offer

It's early days left sided centre back and a striker or two on loan.. were clearly in the market and making moves.

----------------Steffen----------------
----------McNair--Fry--Greaves---------
Jones--Crooks--Tavernier--McGree--Giles
-------------Muniz--Armstrong----------

THAT IS A LUSH TEAM FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP IMO

Agreed

But 4 of those players haven’t signed yet…

You have to compare the number of players released in relation to the number of players they have signed.
If a club expected to finish bottom half releases 10 players, signs 8-9 players from League One, old pros, loans, one year deals does that suddenly make them a threat?
Can't think of many signings where you think "bollox - he could really have come in and done a job for us"

That’s splitting hairs. Some on here would have you believe the market is stagnant - which is patently untrue. Quality of signings? That is another matter. And as for number of players released? Yes it was high - without a doubt. I believe Burnley have lost a few and - I think- they have made 10 signings. So however it is dressed up our inability to strengthen the squad - both numerically and quality is there to be seen

What I'm trying to say is you have to look at the big picture what clubs are doing. In my opinion, keeping an eye on what is going on in the Championship, I'm not seeing any club massively strengthen an already good squad. Clubs have lost players, signed a few and only Burnley have been really active in the transfer market - but they have lost 9 of their first team squad.
I'm frustrated we haven't got 7-8 players in to hit the ground running, but I'd rather get the right players in for 40 games than average ones for 46. Still time, and I'm quietly confident that come September our squad will be in good shape.

It's not good though is it. An injury pretty much anywhere other than in defence and were knackered.
Midfield? Mcgree comes in.
Centre back? Lenihan.
GK? Roberts.
Right back? Spence.
Left back? Bola.
Up front? **** it play one of the kids.

This is if the transfer window closed one and a half months too early.

I love the way people just ignore the fact that our best player last year was an u23 player that would never have got a look in if we had shitloads of squad players clogging up the bench.

If it would make any of you lot happier I could hop on a bus and give Levy a Chinese burn until he signs off £20 million for Spence.

I just hopped on to a random championship forum to try to prove my point that all clubs are in this situation. First one Blackburn. What do you know. They're not happy with the transfer business they've done so far. In fact they are moaning about other clubs in the championship doing better than them.

One specifically seems to have got under their skin.
