14 day lockdown begins

We arrived home from France last night at 7 pm to start our 14 day lockdown from today. We had to complete an online form on Friday evening, which stated we would not be allowed to travel on the Euro if we didn't give full contact details and the address we would be staying at. At 11.30 this morning, the wife received a phone call from the body tasked to police the lockdown. asking her if she fully understood the need and that she could receive further contact at any time. It was obvious someone reading from a script.

Both of us are aware of the need to isolate and the reasons why this is put in place, it was a chance we took when we went ahead with our annual holiday and something we are both willing to comply with.

Whilst crossing on the Euro, there was a number of mini buses containing young European men that looked like they were travelling over for work. Now I could be wrong, but I would argue that none of these had essential jobs that they needed to attend and obviously weren't going to comply with the government ruling.

I would also like to state that I am aware that many British people are not following these rules and are looking at loop holes to navigate round self isolation.

The government are making a right balls up of this and are making one mistake after another.

My brother had to isolate for 14 days and had no contact with anyone. Friend of a friend had someone call at their house 4 times in the 14 days checking they were in.

This seems to be the case.

I could do without it, but knew the risks. I will just go in my shed on the wood lathe to pass the time away.

I had to isolate last month coming in from Russia. It worked well for me as it got me a fortnight working from home before my holiday started. Nobody at all contacted me during the isolation period.

A friend of mine isolated after going to Portugal and his sister had to come round to walk the dog. His neighbour phoned the authorities to let them know he was having visitors amd that this was against the guidelines. He had two police officers call round and question him. In the meantime another one of my friends has had a £25,000 caravan stolen from his property, no police have called round to see him.

Just finished my 14 days of quarantine.

A three hour layover at Schiphol on the way back from Germany on the day the guidance change did for me.

Likewise, I had to fill in all the paperwork. I've not had anyone check up on me, but did observe the quarantine properly. As responsible adults, we surely shouldn't be looking for ways around the quarantine, or thinking about what we can get away with, should we?

It passes soon enough; I've just used the time to get ahead with my work. The crap weather in the last fortnight has been a bit of a blessing for me though; staying in is harder when it's glorious outside.

It's 1 **** up after another

Problem is, its not the best mps in the cabinet, just the hard brexiteers who worship Johnson but are useless ie hancockup, shapps and Williamson

We haven’t got enough people to enforce quarantine. Around 30% of people get a phone call.
My mate got back from France at the weekend.
They live in the middle of nowhere and could walk for hours without seeing anyone.
I suspect they will do just that

If the flights go I’ll be starting mine Sunday. I’ll stick to it but I don’t see why it has to be a tighter restriction than the original lockdown. Especially as I’m coming from a safer place than the UK.

It’ll soon pass, though I’m sure I’ll regret coming back within 48 hours.

of only everyone had your attitude, people think they are getting away with something by cheating the system, in actual fact they are just lengthening the time the rest of us have to suffer.

I tried to explain that to the brother in law, but it seems you just can't get through to some people, they seem to think they are the ones who are winning and are the first to complain when restrictions are placed on them.

On another note, I have just received a call from the hospital offering me an appointment on my first day back at work after isolation. I felt I had to turn it down, I thought it might go down like a lead balloon.

I had to quarantine for 14 days last month after a few days in Spain. The rules changed the night before we returned. I didn't particularly agree with it, but had to do it.

I don't think the government have helped themselves with the introduction of new restrictions.

Specifically from a medical point of view, these 24-36 hour warnings that travelers from certain areas will need to quarantine make no sense.

If there's a need to quarantine, it should come in immediately.

Some might complain that it's somehow "unfair" not to give warning, but this isn't a game, its the health of the nation. I think by having these windows of warning, the government has encouraged people to think of it as something they can get around.
