HOOF 31 January 2021: 12 Day Quiz - DAY 13 -TIE BREAK RESULTS - Guess Erimus74's favourite Boro footballers

Here we go:

"The 3 players

Alan Foggon, unlucky to have Juninho as a contender for the No10 shirt

Gary Hamilton, again Robbie Mustoe shaded it for me

Stuart Boam, my favourite Boro captain of all time & unlucky to be paired against Willie Maddren & to chose one"

So the winner is junosboots.

Congratulations to both the top scorers. Hard luck to coluka.

I personally would have sneaked Eric McMordie in my list somewhere. Also, perhaps Curtis Fleming. They were both favourites of mine.

I will launch the least favourite quiz later today.

So near yet so far.
So I have prepared a few words:)

I would like to thank my father who took me to watch the Boro from 1976 until I moved away in 1986. Then went on my own for the first time to see Gary Gill scoring against Carlisle 3rd div on Boxing day on traditional Christmas visit. Did return for a few years and had season ticket and was lucky enough to see Riverside opening until relegation drove me away again. Had to do with away matches for years and missed out on the trophy win - but did enjoy watching with a group of exiled Bolton fans.

I think my early (formative) years overlapped with Erimus's favourite period so I was very lucky

Thanks again for keeping me occupied for last week and a half

Problem with worst team is that I will start to wind myself up again thinking how on earth did xxxx earn a living playing so casually/crap for something most of us would give various body parts to be able to do!

Well done Juno. Really enjoyed this, we've had some great players in my time which is the same as yours. My first game was in 76 too. Mind I would have always had Mr Middlesbrough and the man to fly us to the moon Mogga in there 😉 #utb

I will always remember the kitman who lived next door to me, telling me after Oxford away in1990, Rioch had Mogga pinned up against the wall, shouting at him that he would never play for him again. If this is a true story (dont think the kitman made too much up) then Rioch was right because he got the sack almost straight after this game.

junos_boots, I went to that Oxford game, on my own with the supporters club, we lost 3-1 Mark Barnham scoring our only goal, IIRC
The following days newspaper headlines were from Bruce stating, 'You'll get me sacked playing like that', I thought surely not, I then went to the midweek night match away to Brighton game, again on my own on the supporters coach, only 16 of us, when we arrived at the ground, the coach courier told us to wait on the coach, he returned a good 15 minutes later with a ticket for each of us, we lost that game, a storm ridden match 1-0 with Boro oldboy Mark Barnham getting the only goal, at their end

I was also at both these games, the Brighton game was paricularly depressing, only bright spot was getting moved to the seats that were undercover due to them shutting the terrace because of the weather.

Police still locked us in after the game even though as you said only a few of us there. How much did Barham enjoy celebrating his goal in front of Boro bench.

I only had to get back to Canterbury though so at least there was that saving grace

Yes remember that, you were stood to our right & the storm was that bad you were all moved in to the seats where we were sat
I travelled home knowing I was up early for my day shift knowing I wouldnt get much kip on the journey home, though with only 16 on the bus there was enough room to lay over 2 seats if that's possible

Hoof. A bit of nostalgia from the early days of the board. Around 10 months ago.

At that time we really did not know how long this was going to last.......

Thanks to @Erimus74 for starting off the quizzes. It kept me just about sane.

Dont thank me spanishman, you're the one who organised it all, got us all into numerous quizzes that sort of grew & for a short while got us thinking about the good days & forgetting for a short time what was happening in the world

Kept me sane too
