Here we go again.

Firstly, thanks to Otto42 for leading the favourite "home-ish" matches quiz for us all. I will be processing the final round results for that shortly.

Here goes with the next quiz. Welcome aboard our new leader Cardiffdaffs. Here is what he has to say about himself:

"Hi. I’m now the wrong side of 60 having attended my first away match at Blackpool in 1969 when we were on MoTD. Dickie Rooks coring in a 1-1 draw.

By the time Jack Charlton came along I was living near London so was able to travel to most away games including all in the 1973- 4 season and 1974-5 season. I only started to briefly drop off going to away games in the early 80s as family started but still went to quite a few in the midlands and south before Brucie took over and it was travelling virtually to every away game again after our rebirth.

I count myself lucky that I went to all 13 European away trips and it won’t be a secret that those trips were some of the most fantastic times I had as a Boro supporter. So in choosing my favourite away games down the years it won’t necessarily be the best scores, just how important the game was, that it was a good away day (or week long) craic and how much I enjoyed the result."

Here is the blank table introducing the first round of this new quiz:

As you can see the first round is a recent one - summer 2010 to spring 2015 (I can hear Erimus74 groaning already).

As usual answers in by no later than 13:00 UK time tomorrow (9 May 2020). Enjoy.

I'll go

1. Liverpool v boro 14league cup. That penalty game
2. Fulham v Boro 15. We lost, but what a game, had everything.
3. V Leeds 11. We won away at Leeds.

Should I have done a Blackpool one, just because its Blackpool?

What time of day is it in NZ?

Nooooooo, 😥 Cardiffdaffs out, only kidding mate, long time following the mighty Boro

06 24 Jan 2015 v Man City 0-2 FA cup
08 May 2015 v Brentford 1-2League Championship Play-Offs
Dec 2014 v Millwall 1-5

drank a cup of strong coffee before bed now 3.10 am and like a owl

Man City 0-2 boro 24th jan 2015
Hull 2 boro 4. 4th April 2011
Sheff u 0 boro 1 9th April 2011

I'll go for the following....

Man City 0 Boro 2 FA Cup 4th Round 2015. Still buzzing about that today and if Lee Tomlin had scored...

Leeds 0 Boro 1 August 2011. Leeds had two sent off and we won at Bellend Road for once.

Sunderland 0 Boro 1 October 2012 League Cup. Scotty Mac stuns the Makems...always good to beat them at their place.

Welcome back to the other side.

Morning all, off to bed now, been thinking of my 3 most of the night

1st -23rd September 2014 Liverpool 2 v 2 Boro league cup, Liverpool won 14-13 on penalties. After extra time - 1-1 at 90 minutes
The penalty shoot-out equalled the record for the highest-ever score in English senior competitions. After Liverpool's f by Raheem Sterling was saved, there was an unbroken run of 20 successful penalties

2nd - 24th January 2015 FAC progression, Man City 0 Boro 2 FA Cup 4th. With goals from Bamford & a 90th minute Kike, but for many, many Boro fans this game will always be remembered for the Tomlin if only he'd scored moment

And pondering between Sunderland away in the league cup win & thrashing Millwall away 30th October 2012 Sunderland 0 Boro 1 League Cup 4th round Went with my younger brother to this, in the home end with Scott Macdonald scoring the only goal to win the game
6th December 2014 Millwall 1 Boro 5 with Vossen scoring a hattrick with further goals from Bamford & Kike, greal result, especially in the capital

My 3

Liverpool 2014 League Cup - penalty shoot out
Man City 2015 FAC win
Millwall away 5-1 win 2014

I think the Liverpool one was Sept 14. As Sept 15 would have been outside this window.

Looks like people are picking similar games. All of mine are Karanka ones. Easily the best manager of the recent past.

Here are mine:
1. 29 Jan 2015 Man City 0 - 2
2. 23 Sept 2014 Liverpool 2-2 (14-13 loss on pens)
3. 6 Dec 2014 Millwall 1-5 (Vossen hat trick).

Have to agree with many on that game at the Etihad. That was some day

1. Man City 0 Boro 2. Bamford, Kike

2. Liverpool 2-2 14-13 penalties

3. 1-0 win at Leeds in 2011. Leeds had Clayton and Howson in their line up. The latter got red carded as did Gradel. (Whatever happened to Max Gradel)

1 - Jan 2015 Man C v Boro 0-2 Was a great display and win. Diring the game was always expecting them to comeback. However looking back now it was an incredibly comfortable win. Tomlin very nearly got into the top 10 of greatest goals I've seen (only problem - he missed)

2- Oct 2012 Sunderland v Boro 0-1 Scott McDonald's finest moment - could we go to Wembley? (spoiler no)

3 - Dec 2010 Preston v Boro 1-3 The clouds of gloom from the Strachen era took a real lifting, at 1-0 down we were bottom of the league. This was a very important win in the early months of Mowbray's reign.

There were a suprising number of other good away performances in this period, Leeds game especially, Liverpool but we lost. Cardiff in 2011 to stop them going up was another that very nearly made the list.

1. 24/01/15 Man C. 0-2 Boro, Tomlin with Kompany in pocket game. We defended like lions 1st half, had a touch of luck, Mejias was excellent too. 2nd half we took the game to them to hit them on the break as they over committed. Superbly suckered them in to leave those gaps.

2. 23/09/14 Liverpool 2-2 Boro (14-13) Drama, what drama. So unlucky not to win without the need for pens i thought. A master class in tactics from AK for me

3. 17/04/15 Norwich 0-1 Boro twas a helluva game, a vital win pressing for auto promotion. The feeling of satisfaction Joy and sheer relief was immense.Shame they crocked Paddy.

Cardiffdaffs is on a zoom call at the moment. So I do not have his answers yet. I will start processing stuff as soon as I have the answers.

PS Welcome to Cooper671. A quiz newbie.
