A few p per kWh may not sound a lot but over thousands of units it will add up and remeber the current price cap will go up by 6% so you're comparing it to future cost not now

Just checked the unit rates....I need to stop just looking at the monthly payments.

Yes DD amounts are an absolute fallacy to compare with, that's how companies like utility warehouse get people in. you basically need to work out your annual costs with each tariff - a spreadsheet makes that really easy even without compassion sites.

365* standing charge per fuel
Unit rate * usage
Add it all up, divide by 12 per fuel and that is your monthly amount
 
I'm on Intelligent go, but have received an email from octopus today about fixing my gas price...

Unit rate 6.32p
Standing charge 29.68p

If I switch its to octopus loyal 16m tariff. Will that affect my elec and charging my car?

You can fix single fuel but I think you'll need to contact them to arrange it as I think you can't do gas only fixes online from memory

It gives the option to switch gas, leccy or both. Just its not clear that if I switch to fixed for gas whether that will stop the intelligent go for leccy.

Thank you for the reply, so I'm guessing it works out quite a lot cheaper if I switch to the Eon one then

Eon were awful, as were British Gas, Ovo and Scottish Power.

I've not had experience of some of the newer providers but the only provider I have personally found to be good to deal with is Octopus.
 
Recently switched to the 16 month Loyal Fix with Octopus, just for peace of mind really.
Tracker was fantastic but maybe run it's course.
