‘Boy‘ by U2

I must be in a minority. I can't stand them. Their music grinds on me. Each to their own I suppose
It’s a large minority I think!
Weird thing about U2, they’re one of the biggest acts on the planet but I’ve never actually met a big U2 fan, they clearly do have a huge fan base but you just never come across them!

Boy is an absolute classic album and live at the time playing smaller venues they were fantastic.

Just a shame they turned into egotistic self indulgent tosspots that haven't made a good album in decades.

Well here's one right here, I was first captivated by The Unforgettable Fire, twagged school to buy The Joshua Tree, been mesmerised seeing them live and have continually loved their music so have been a big U2 fan for 30+ years.

Ultra Violet (Light My Way) is my favourite song of all time.

I've really dined out on this over the years, so bear with it.

I was Ents Chairman at Uni very early 80's. I came back to Boro one weekend and watched a very late show on TV featuring a band I'd never heard of. I thought they were raw but brilliant. We had a ball coming up in one of the Uni halls, so I made a few enquiries and found we could hire the band, with little contractual fuss , for around £1500 for the main event.
As Uni committees go, I put the case, but no-one had heard of them, and were a bit concerned that we weren't putting on 'A name'
So we didn't book them.

By the time the ball went ahead they had been on TOTP and their star was going out of the sky. We hired Mud in the end, who were good, but what might have been if we had booked U2 for £1500, eh? :)

I've got a spookily similar story, but the band that we hired were The Troggs who were pi55ed, uninterested, and 5hite, and the band we didn't hire, for £1000, was The Police

Dear me Mr. 74 given the lack of musical taste you have demonstrated over the years (a lot of really cheesy 70s disco as I recall) I think you can call no-one on the subject of musical credibility!

Haha Muttley I can imagine you stamping your feet after my comment to Norm, all in fun, don't take it the wrong way, calm down have a cuppa & put the best of the 70's disco on, you've mentioned my bad music taste before, which I don't mind, all in good fun
I actually still don't know what my actual music taste is as I enjoy music from Natt King Cole to ABBA, to the Clash to the Boney M, Sweet to the Undertones, my list is endless, etc, etc, etc

Plus I can have a say about any type of music

IMHO, U2, are awful 👍
