Stuck for sth to do this evening…

BASE CAMP has the solution! Polish music sensation Bajzel is flying in especially to play and his previous trips to Boro have been class. He’s joined by Leeds rock-noise duo Junk It (who are ace) and Teesside’s very own Pellethead… See you down there

POINT BLANK TEESSIDE - New zine out now…

Cheers rkangel … Always good to hear positive feedback! I had a great time producing this particular edition - especially the Stockton Calling pieces. Great features including The Shakin’ Nightmares and The Likkor Men too 👍

    One album wonders

Agree that ‘AOCTW’ is a classic and probably their best 👍 However I actually prefer ‘LWW’ or ‘Rancid 2000’ as albums. Both very, very different too.

    One album wonders

To be fair, it wasn’t just small town who didn’t understand the thread topic! Re. Common Rider - it was Jesse Michaels’ group post-Operation Ivy. Not the best band in the world but worth a listen if you were a fan 👍

    One album wonders

Agree with Minor Threat... (they had a couple of decent EPs too). Would you class 'Operation Ivy' as a classic? I'm a huge Rancid fan... But I'm always a bit 'hmmm' when it comes to Operation Ivy. (Btw - Have you ever listened to Common Rider?)

    One album wonders

Great shout. One of the best punk LPs ever produced. Well, perhaps not 'produced', it's bloody awful! But written and recorded. Can't believe how few people actually know of it. (I'm not a NYD fan btw - just can't get into them at all).

    One album wonders

Wow - remember seeing these support a band at Middlesbrough Town Hall (Cast??) when I was at college. We got a free or cheap mini compilation tape with a couple of tunes on it. 'Heads High' and 'Face on Faces' if memory serves me correct, without looking them up. Haha!

    Adverts (yet again)

He also took time to pen a column for my POINT BLANK TEESSIDE fanzine too. A piece called 'TEESSIDE MEMORIES' where he talked about The Adverts playing various places up here in the NE and even name-checks Steve Harland.

    Adverts (yet again)

Seen TV Smith a couple of times at The Westgarth doing his solo stuff. Before the gig I requested a song he hadn't done for a few years and he said he'd see what he could do, and played it. A true gent.
