No the ONS figures use the five year average. The graph is a good visual representation of the figures, very helpful to look at the context of the second wave. As mentioned when you follow the blue line (all deaths) compared to the five year average (yellow) you get a good picture of where we...

I think you've got your columns confused? Either way, it's much better to refer directly to the ONS figures rather than a slapdash spreadsheet for genuine context.

Read what I said my friend, compared to 2019 alone. Use the ONS data from their site, much easier to read. I'll post this image once again, as you can see from the graph below there are a number of months where all cause (including covid) excess deaths are below average for the five year...

    Stop Posting the Conspiracy Rubbish

My figures are not wrong, they are literally lifted from the ONS. If you read my post I stated that there has been 8 excess deaths in comparison to 2019, not the five year average. 'Every one of those weeks in 2020 had more excess deaths than the maximum figure for any of those weeks over...

    Stop Posting the Conspiracy Rubbish

Hi all, Some interesting stats out from the ONS this morning: No doubt COVID deaths have increased over the past few months, however they seemed to have replaced other causes of death as only 8 excess deaths occurred in October compared with 2019. Another bit of interesting COVID...

    Stop Posting the Conspiracy Rubbish

There's a lot of ongoing research into asymptomatic carries, WHO have stated that it's unlikely those not displaying symptoms are able to pass it on, whether that's viral load or other things at play, more research is needed. Previous pandemic guidelines also works on the basis that...

Maybe has something to do with restrictions but also less sensitivity is better for actually finding infected individuals. The use of PCR testing has really buggered it.

Apologies, didn't make sense. Lateral flow testing less sensitive but not picking up fragments, thus providing a more accurate result. The results of the Liverpool mass testing have been crazy, around 300 positives with over 20k tested! I think these tests will be extremely important in moving...

False negatives much less likely then positives, later flow test is less sensitive then PCR testing but still working on similar thresholds. PCR is so sensitive it can pick up previous COVID fragments, see Cristiano Ronaldo's three consecutive positive tests over nearly 4 weeks....

    Stop Posting the Conspiracy Rubbish

On the PCR testing, the mass testing in liverpool (which is lateral flow testing) has discovered remarkable few cases despite a huge number of tests being carried out. This would support the false positives presented by PCR testing.

Lol. People are allowed to question things, doesn't make them a conspiracy theorist. I work in healthcare, I know COVID is real but I am allowed to form my own opinions (based on data) about the success of lockdowns and other curbs on society. Enable honest debate and don't shut it down...

    Controversial Covid post

Her points are valid, she's an ex Physician as well so you can't really argue with her training / credentials, she is in fact a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. ICU admissions don't = deaths, the deaths as Clare points out are occurring in diseases where it is likely people are not...

    Controversial Covid post

No - not my point. Excess deaths at home are directly related to lockdown / media hysteria and people being unwilling to attend hospital or having appointments cancelled. A reminder that COVID accounted for 1 in 16 deaths during this period. In regards to your options - personally I have been...

    Controversial Covid post

People dying of COVID not with COVID - people scared to attended hospital or having appointments cancelled, thus leading to further excess home deaths.

    Controversial Covid post

Suitably concerned but not surprised due to the fact these regions escaped the initial wave that ripped through London. Now in London you're seeing low infection rates and low hospital admissions. Previous exposure during the first wave now represented in the data.

On testing - yes. We would have had huge numbers of positives The graphs you've used are the reason this conversation is pointless. All the best chaps and UTB
