Sell Latte Lath, yay or nay?

My previous job was HQd in Atlanta - I have been to watch American Football at the Mercedes Benz stadium - it is phenomenal. The retracting roof is incredible. American cities often leave me a bit cold, but I really like Atlanta.

    It's a yes from me

    Worst referee of the season?

If you look back, the second time it happened, it appeared on the feed that he was blaming Hackney for the collision. The ref clearly held up 2 fingers to indicate it was he second time it had happened with a stern face. If so it is ridiculous.

    Lake District

Fairfield Horseshoe was probably my favourite circular route, partly because we had spectacular weather when we did it. We always base our selves at The Brit when we go up. Fantastic pub.

    Lake District

A friend of a friend died on Helvellyn just before new year. It is really easy to underestimate English mountains. I have done just under 100 Wainwright's so halfway to completing them all. I disagree that Catbells is the easiest. It is accessible and not particularly high, but has a couple of...

Posters who have fluently learnt a 2nd language later in life

When I lived in France I went to the cinema a lot and always watched films in English with French subtitles (VOSTF). Again to try and see how things translated in real world French.

Characters rarely, if ever, know two people with the same first name.

Posters who have fluently learnt a 2nd language later in life

I had decent fluency in French earlier in life (half of my degree was in French and I was fortunate to both study and work over there). After A Level, I thought I had it mastered. I didn't. After a year at Uni I thought I had it mastered. I didn't. Only after I had worked there did it really...

    Gavin & Stacey

    Absolutely superbly done

Telly a bit of a disappointment tonight

I am going to swim against the tide here, Gavin and Stacey is brilliantly written and the supporting cast is tremendous. Corden isn't my cup of tea and the eponymous characters are a bit rubbish, but it is one thing that all age groups in our family will watch together which his rare.

What is it that is missing?

I think compared to a few weeks ago, sides are starting to build a plan for Doak. Often happens that a player bursts on the scene who is a bit different and sides don't know what to do, but after a while analysts work it out. That is the next challenge for him. Unless he is in a breakaway his...

    What happened to Ayling?

About 10 mins before the superb tackle, he made another sliding tackle, went off the pitch and his studs seemed to stick in the AstroTurf strip. He immediately grabbed his knee and briefly looked in bother, so we wondered if that was related to it.

How far away are we from being a team to give the Aussies a stern test in the Ashes next year?

Think it will be too soon for him but James Rew will be getting a call up at some point soon (and probably his younger brother too several years down the line.

    No bookings bonus tonight

I alluded to it in the other thread, the ref tonight was a big bonus on that front. He seemed content to manage the game without brandishing cards every two minutes. Used a lot of common sense I thought. The game flowed really well as a result and in spite of the appalling conditions. Sure he...

    NYC CEO Shooting

100% this - even if a figure is unpopular people go through the motions of saying what a tragedy. There is literally nothing other than apparent joy at his murder. I have never seen anything like it.

    * The Unofficial "Official" Burnley v Middlesbrough [12/24] Match-Day Thread *

We all see it differently. Manu was probably very lucky to escape a yellow for grabbing Roberts and holding him by the neck for a good few seconds. Jonny did well to intervene and I thought the ref did very well to just let the steam come out of the situation
