Things that bring back fond memories of your Grandparents

My grandmother lived on Caxton Street, near Ayresome Park. Usually on a Saturday my two uncles, two aunties and my mam, along with many cousins would congregate there in one room, eating my grandmother's home made baking delights, and waiting for the football results via teleprinter on her...

    Well Done Paddy McGuinness

I'm not a big fan of his, but cycling 300 miles from Wrexham to Glasgow, on one of those Chopper bicycles, albeit the seat was modified, was truly an amazing feat, and he deserves a big congratulations. Also, he has raised over £7 million so far. One of my cousins had one of those bicycles when...

    Acoustic guitar damage

Another 'thumbs up' for James at Agrajag. My 50 year old Eko Ranger 6 was almost totally refurbished by him. And at a very good price. His workshop is near The Riverside Stadium.

South Stand roof at Ayresome Park

I seem to remember that KHome Engineering was on the South Stand roof for some time, because the Boro couldn't afford to paint over it. But it may have been Heritage Hampers.

Ron Yeats - Liverpool legend dies

Attended a sportsman's dinner at the Billingham Arms Hotel back in 1991. Ron Yeats was the guest speaker, and was absolute class. He told many brilliant and humerous stories, particularly about Bill Shankly. A colossus of a man, and a brilliant captain for Liverpool. RIP Ron

Yeh, but it's the most recent one that still makes me laugh, and I've lost count of how many times I've watched it.

What tradesmen do you not see these days?

Good call. I am one of the last surviving working draughtsman. The market is now flooded with CAD operators who are titled as designers, who have flooded the market, and hence suppressed the rates of pay. Luckily I am still employed by a company that values my experience.
