Boro close in on Ben Gibson

You can get a good solid champo centre half for £10k-£12k a week. If we are paying him any more than that then it is a vanity signing by the chairman, based almost purely on the fact he's a: related & b: from boro. I will be a bit annoyed if we have decimated our squad and almost got ourselves...

To be fair that would probably be 8 or 9!

    Marvin Johnson and George Friend

Exactly mate, but we've probably lost ten from last season with the loans? So we're going to need a large number of new faces in, even with utilising the squad more.

    Marvin Johnson and George Friend

Well, they can't stay forever! For me we desperately need some new blood, new voices and players with a meaner more physical streak who are up for the fight of a championship season.

    Marvin Johnson and George Friend

He signed his last deal in the PL? He's been a mainstay for years so I suspect he'll be up around £20k plus like Ayala. But his value to the squad now must be well below those levels and we could replace him with a competent yet unspectacular champo left back for way less. The replacement will...

    Marvin Johnson and George Friend

I agree, hopefully George's will be on much reduced terms to recognise his supporting role in the squad from now on. Johnson I just don't see, he's average, but he worked hard under Warnock and filled in and gave his all, which Warnock demands of his players so if it is a cheap deal and as cover...

Eat out to help out.... it begins!

Why on earth do you think only meals loaded with saturated fat would be available? It will be the full gamut of eating establishments available. People have freedom of choice to eat what they want Roofie.

    Who next through the door

If Internet transfer / club finances sites are to be believed (I know!) then Wing is meant to be on £2k a week and McNair is meant to be on £20k a week. So it makes sense for us to move him off the wage bill if we can. If we also move Britt on I think that is the last of the 'big' earners off...

    Who next through the door

I get what you're saying but conversely Tav could have played every game ahead of him and we'd have scored / won more. We'll never know.

    Who next through the door

To be honest I've been constantly underwhelmed by him. He's had a few decent games for us, but he seems to be one where his game has suffered from not having a nailed down position. I liked him as a RCB, at RB & CM I used to get frustrated most games as he didn't seem to maintain his position...

    Who next through the door

Whilst I don't want us to sign him as I think it would be a ridiculous signing based solely on the fact he's related to the chairman....... I'd assume Burnley still 'owe' us £7.5 million from his £15 million sale ( 2years into his 4 year deal). So we 'sign' him for £7.5 million from Burnley...

    Who next through the door

Funnily enough that is my recollection of Hugill while he was here. Although to be fair, he had to hold it up long enough for his team mates who were 40 yards away to get near him.

    Sheff Wed 12 POINT PENALTY

Why? We did before, apart from an occasional anomaly the richest teams who have spent the most money have been the most successful. It's just the same now, except rather than from a bigger fanbase or a local boy done good, the money is coming from unsavoury middle eastern countries and Russian...

    Sheff Wed 12 POINT PENALTY

Isn't the exact opposite true? With it, the biggest clubs with the biggest fan bases, stadiums and sponsorship; deals can out spend any of the clubs below them. These 2nd tier clubs can't compete financially as they can't match the revenue streams of the elite clubs until they become one...
