you can train composure, he's been well trained, but he's also trained and learned well. HE should be an example to the other youth players now

Don't want to get ahead of myself as we've been here before with young midfield players. Interesting that his pedigree isn't exactly fantastic. I wonder why? He's not been part of England youth teams or been picked out as a gem previously.
He's been a breath of fresh air and long may it continues, hopefully it's class rather than form and even if he has a little dip we keep the faith and find ways to ease him back in.
Imagine if he had a Wingy in him too!

Carrick esque really. Imagine how buzzing he must be to have MC as our manager. The player who excelled in that very position he is in

Yep very much a player in the mould of his manager. Pleasure to watch. At 20 could still improve considerably too.
If he'd been signed from a Spanish team for £8m we'd be thinking it was a great signing (albeit only after slagging off the recruitment team because Wilder refused to play him

Really intelligent player who looks absolutely perfect for what Carrick is trying to do. In fact if any one players encapsulates Carrick's tenure so far it's Hackney.

I'd predicted that Carrick would target Mowatt to be his apprentice but he's obviously seen big potential in Hackney.

@Marvanelli you coming round to the sppointment of Carrick now? It’s early days of course but the future looks promising. He has shown why so many of us were enthused by his appointment. Let’s hope he keeps it up!

How on earth did this gem go unnoticed by Wilder?
It's not as if we had someone else playing unreal alongside Howson. He was shoehorning Mowatt, Crooks, McGree in CM at times....and all 3 were terrible at CM.
So pleased for him at getting the opportunity under Leo, and then grabbing that chance with both hands! He's pretty much cemented himself in the first 11.
I thought at the end of August we would been searching high and low for a CM in January window. Now the pressure is off.
We obviously still need cover at CM, but it's not a huge priority now Hackney is playing.

He's definitely impressed me and surprised me.
I feared the worst, purely because we were in a rut, and we needed to stay up, first and foremost and he had 0 managerial experience (other than 3 games at Utd).
But so far, Carrick has exceeded my expectations. He's let the shackles off a few players, put players in their proper positions (Jones RW, Lenihan/Fry CB etc) and what he's done to Akpom is incredible. He's like a rolls royce in that #10 slot!
Still a long long way to go, but I'm actually excited with games and looking up at the table, whereas previously I was quite pessimistic and looking over my shoulder at the table.
Long may it continue too!
