Urban Hymns

Never had the pleasure of seeing the full band but saw Richard just after his first solo album was released, then again in about 2005 and once more as special guest at Finsbury Park in 2018. Superb. As far as Urban Hymns is concerned, it was one of the albums I listened to over and over at university. Still listen to it now. It’s stunning. As an aside, I saw Richard in a shop at Gloucester Quays a few years ago. He was shopping with his family and I really wanted to stop him and say hello. The wife persuaded me to leave him alone. One of my biggest regrets is that I did.

Was living in Hoxton when they did the video for Bitter Sweet Symphon. Recognised several of the local nutters in the video. The other crazies must have been the Flying Scud.

It's a brilliant album with my favourite ever song on. Probably one that gets played at my funeral in fact.
