Boro 2014-2016

Just been watching videos of the 2 full seasons under Karanka. What a time to be a Boro fan. The bond between the team and supporters was incredible. The last time I can remember it being properly enjoyable to be a Boro fan.
This season doesn’t feel as if that’s there.

Last season Warnock had brought the love back to the club and Wilder rode that wave.. this season . Flat, gone

Totally coincidental that it was also the last time that we were consistently getting good results.

I was surprised looking back to see just how sparse the crowds were for a lot of it.

Starved of success for 5-6 years at that point and we were struggling to break the 20k mark for most of 2014/15.

Easily my two favourite seasons following the Boro post-Europe (I was only young back then mind).

The connection between fans and Karanka/Leo was class. The La Bamba song was a million times better than Oh Wilder Said.

I never questioned the style of football as it was getting results.

Definitely was the best time in our recent history, but I've got to question this one.

It was just listing names and half the people in the song left in January for a start.

There is no issue really, just think it sounded better and have good memories of it. No need to debate everything.

It wasn't a serious debate on my part, was just wondering your reasons.
I liked both, I just prefer the most recent one.

Both were done to death by the end.

Fans on here turned on Kranaka big style when we went 2 months without a win. Your average fan is only interested in winning teams and can't see beyond the last 10 games.

Warnock certainly didn’t bring the love back, we were shocking under him last season. Wilders good first few months plus the cup run did, nothing to do with Warnock

I agree with JM14 about Warnock. I was reasonably positive about him. I felt he moved us up a step after Woody. However there was a sizeable group on here and Boro fans I met who detested him. It was a bit of age thing - the older fans tended to support him, but the 20-45 age group were not so keen.

Especially after he gave all that guff about being a 'Boris' fan.

Everyone is entitled to their views but we can and will use it as a jugdement on their character and likeability.

thought we were on the up with Karanka , the season in the premiership was a disaster tho and things have been downward since ... little hope this season will rise from the ashes , went to the Rotherham game ... first match for 3 years as living in thailand .... and it was very poor watching ... considering the players we have the quality was bad ... Jan window might throw a lifeline but mid table at best with current form

I still feel disheartened that things ended the way they did with Karanka. I really believed at the time that we had our very own "special one", and that he would build a legacy here and have us back competing in Europe.

I know in many ways Karnaka was the architect of his own downfall but I can't help but look back and wonder "what if".

What if we'd sold Ramirez and signed one or two of Karanka's targets, or what if we'd stuck with him and given him the opportunity to take us straight back up again. It was an unsettled dressing room but maybe we could have had a bit clear out that summer and started all over again under Karanka.

I loved Karanka and was gutted when he was sacked but after listening to interviews afterwards about him, he probably lasted longer than he should have.
