Does anyone have an Induction Hob?

Just had one installed, but for some reason can't get a pan of water to boil. Everything else is cooking fine, we have the right pans, but the water is just taking ages and it's supposed to be really quick.

Yeah mines similar to that but only on certain rings. Think counter intuitively its easier to get water boiling on the smaller rings in mine.

Try heating the pan on its own in the oven first. Maybe 10 mins at 180 , then transfer to the hob and fill with water that you've had in microwave for 2 mins. You'll find you've given it a kick start.

We have a bosch one and heats things very quick, including large pans of water. Dont leave the kitchen if you set off a pan of spuds otherwise before you know it its boiling over. The only thing with it is its maximum heat is lower than gas and it struggles to reach the right temp when making jam

Yes and as above it’s not the biggest ring that boils my biggest pan fastest. The settings on my rings go from 0-14 then P, it needs to be set to P to boil fast.

Has it definitely been connected correctly, mine had links that needed to be put in in the terminal box that I almost missed due to doing the man thing of not reading instructions…

but other than the missus dropping a jar on it and cracking the corner off we’ve had no issues and it cooks very quickly…

Mine only boils quickly when I use the P setting -and as others have said you need the right size pan for the ring

Gotta say I was dubious about the benefits of induction over gas but it seems o much better and marginally cheaper to use..
I have used both and prefer gas. When I had induction hobs in the end I used to use the kettle to boil water rather than sticking it in my big pan. I've started doing that on my gas hobs now because I think it's quicker and therefore cheaper.

Advantage of induction is that it's more efficient as you don't lose flames round the side of the pan. But I found with mine I couldn't get a consistent temperature (the hob would switch on and off to maintain a temperature), and it didn't cool down quickly enough for my liking. I'm also visual. And I couldn't use a wok on it.

We use an induction hob kettle like the one below and the P setting. Boils quicker than a regular kettle. In general, water boils insanely fast with induction. You might be using a pan with a low iron content so it may be that you need a different pan. Only problem is that these kind of kettles are just regular kettles with an iron plate stuck on the bottle. If you use the P setting some of the glue can spark. Kind of scary until it settles down...

I have one and it's F***ing dog ****. I hate it with every fibre of my being. Much much much prefer cooking on gas. If never recommend one to anyone.
