At allThat HT team talk must have been exciting. "Man up" clearly needed in some quarters particularly in that first half. We are often way too easily bullied and appear to be desperate for a midfield enforcer. Howson is not able to do it ALL by himself.
Unless he was assured by the recruitment team 3-4 strikers would DEFINITELY be brought in. So he told Akpom he wasn't needed. Whoops.Good to hear him telling it like it is with regards to the first-half performance but he has to take some responsibility himself for the striker situation.
He mentioned that Akpom was unable to play the full 90 minutes but Wilder chose not to play him pre-season. It was naivety on his part to believe the striker situation would be sorted in time for the season kicking off.

Possibly but again if Wilder did do that then he was very naive.Unless he was assured by the recruitment team 3-4 strikers would DEFINITELY be brought in. So he told Akpom he wasn't needed. Whoops.
A few of us at the time mentioned that it seemed like a bad idea to leave them out completely. These are players that we are paying. They and the coaching staff should all be professional enough to be involved in the short term even if they are expecting to leave long-term. It must be far more useful even just from a training perspective to have better players in the squad. Surely our defenders can learn more playing against a striker like Uche in training than a bunch of kids. Then there is always the risk that you can't get rid of a player and you have to have them around as has happened with Akpom.Unless he was assured by the recruitment team 3-4 strikers would DEFINITELY be brought in. So he told Akpom he wasn't needed. Whoops.
Saw that as a "get you finger out" statement to the recruitment/financial team.Good to hear him say that this week has to be pivotal for signings
Sadly we know what the club is like with regards to recruitment better than he does.My guess would be that, with the work that has apparently been going on 'since he walked through the door' in the lead up to his first full summer window, and with it being so glaringly obvious what we need, he'll have expected the football club to have recruited players for him to use for the new season by now.
ESPECIALLY with the incoming funds from Spence and Tavernier and the amount of players we've sent back to their clubs/released.
Not happy is he.
