Congrats to the Lionesses ...

But you have just liked a post from Nano that did exactly that.
Do you mean the following?

"It can still be entertaining to watch and in no way would I belittle the achievements of the team. They are on an equal footing with all of the other teams in the tournament. They deserved their win and it is a great achievement. Not everyone has to be interested though.

I think the biggest improvement the could make to the women's game is to just make everything slightly smaller. Slightly smaller pitches and slightly smaller goals and even the ball. Would eliminate most of the things I have mentioned".

That is what I've liked, and there he is actually complimenting last nights success. Please stop looking to create and argument.

Due to the increased segregation for the Men's final, if covid wasn't a factor, the women final would still likely have been higher.
Almost certainly. Also the crowd last night didn't include huge number of accredited officials which may have taken the actual attendance to almost 90,000.

Im DEBATING with you. If you don't like being challenged or have a very thin skin this messageboard isn't for you mate sorry.

That's fine if there was from you, mate. Crack on. Nobody is saying don't enjoy it and revel in the success.

But you can't jump on people and call them out for saying they didn't, or that they don't enjoy women's football, or that they think women's football is s***e.

I personally haven't watched a minute of the Women's Euros because I think the game is poor. The quality of the play is dreadful, they lack technique, power, strength, agility, tactical sense. The things I love about watching football.

Not everyone has to love it, because you do.
I take it you've given up on the Boro

I don't have a problem at all with being challenged, hence the numerous toing and frying of messages this morning on this topic. It's this exact patronising kind of response that gets my goat though.

This isn't about whether you like it or not (that's entirely up to you), but about you making factually incorrect statements about the quality of the game, despite admitting you've not watched a minute of the tournament.
That's the great paradox they face isn't it: "I can't stand women's football, it has no skill. I never watch it"

The second statement makes the first statement invalid.

Seems to me you have prolonged the “tooing and froing” moaning about a perceived “attitude” to dissenters when I just read people making arguments which you seem to take issue with personally.

Or it's accepting that I, along with others who don't enjoy watching women's football, know that we don't enjoy it because we have seen games (in my case been to women's football), we've watched them play.... and it's not for us.

The women's game does not provide me with the entertainment and enjoyment that I watch football for.

Read through the thread, I've congratulated them and wished them well.. but because I'm not doing cartwheels down Linthorpe Road in a Beth Mead shirt I'm wrong, out of order and misinformed.

It is fairly amusing that a lot people seem a bit unhappy that some commentators might have compared the women's achievements to the men's.

But then bang on at length comparing the women's game to the men's game. 😉

The biggest difference for me is the sportsmanship of the players. Pro players, the FA and FIFA should be watching that and be thoroughly embarrassed. Makes an absolute nonsense of anyone claiming nothing can be done about it.

That's two of the top sides in the world, with a historic rivalry, playing for a major title. Fair bit of pressure you might think. And they still managed to get through it with almost none of the histrionics, cheating or gamesmanship you get in the men's game.

On the other hand Neymar can't get through a pre-season friendly without cheating.

Thats certainly one side of the game the men need to copy, how not to cheat

Well done Englabnd lionesses 👍

So you'll all be glued to the women's game now 🤠

Wonder how many can name the England players, and which clubs they play for ?
Most definitely. Or actually I'll remain glued to it.

I've been following the women's game for years now. For one thing, I coached girls and women's teams over a period of about two decades.

And I can definitely name the England players and which clubs they play for - I watch them week in and week out.

I just don't get why people feel it's necessary to downplay the great achievement of last night.

So very sad.
To be fair, I don't think too many people have downplayed the achievement. I think it's thoroughly deserved. They've done brilliantly, in particular Sarina Weigman. Didn't the commentator say she's never lost a game in the Euros for Holland or England? Remarkable.

I couldnt name more than 4 england players& certainly couldnt name who plays for which club, I struggle to recognise over half the mens national players, not that that takes anything away from what the lionesses have achieved

Erimus. Sounds like you have the same issue remembering names that I do. It’s age.

The comparison to the men's game is unnecessary in my view. Why do they want to piggy back onto the mens history. Its a complete separate sporting event with very little history. Formed in 1969 probably off the back of the mens 66 win and disbanded in 1993 until the FA too control from the WFA. So to end 56 years of "hurt" is nonsense.

Congratulations though an incredible achievement for there sport. Which has progressed leaps and bounds in the last 15 years. Excellent finish for the 1st. in front of 87 thousand.
