From the outside looking in we are an absolute shambles

My understanding is Wilder wanted to keep Tav but accepts there is little or nothing he can do to prevent him from leaving hence the Mane/Liverpool comment. My issue with this deal is why we have seemingly allowed Tav to go before we've brought in another CM (if this is the case).

It is almost certain the squad we have now won't be the squad we have when the window closes next month. Wilder said there are 3 premier league players coming in one of which will be a marquee signing. It seems like Forss is one of those premier league signings but he won't be the marquee signing. Lets see who comes and possibly goes before writing off a season that hasn't even started yet.

I really hope wilder didn't use the term marquee signing ffs

Blimey, I haven't read the majority of this thread, but it is in absolute meltdown on Oneboro, Twitter ... and I'd guess everyone on here is feeling similar re; Tavernier leaving and our lack of incomings/squad looking thin, right before our season opener which is televised :ROFLMAO:

If we get beat, I fear things could go south very quickly

I am wondering how Wilder is feeling. We are treading on thin ice IMO and unless the reinforcements come in we need to actually compete this season, I think he could be off before we are even ten games into the season

Considering how optimistic everyone was at the start of the window and the names we seemed to have solid links with once Spence was sold, etc ... this is all a bit crackers. I didn't picture being in this position before our opening game a few weeks back.

I dearly hope we do not lose on Saturday or our fans are going to panic, it does not bode well if reading around online tonight is anything to go by ...:confused::eek:

Wait and see. No point getting your knickers in a twist just yet. It's hardly a big surprise to anyone that Tav is going. I'm sure the Club will have anticipated that this might happen and have been making contingency plans accordingly. Until the Window closes and you know exactly who you've got in the squad you can't make a proper judgement about how well equipped we are for the season ahead.

oops. Guilty as charged.

I believe he did but someone will be along soon with proof. If true, that is a line that can torpedo a Manager when it isn't fulfilled.
Absolute pathetic term surprised at an old school manager like wilder using that.

I'm surprised you have responded like this Rob. Gibson went on Tees after the game where relegation was confirmed andxsaid exactly that. And pretty much every Boro fan heard it. Surely you did?
Plenty of Boro fans misquote him and say he said “we will smash the league”. But to suggest he never said we want to smash the league is just disingenuous.

I always thought the only difference of opinion was whether it is 'we will smash the league', or 'it is our intention to/we want to smash the league'

The 'smash the league' bit has never been in question has it?

Have faith, I did not want Tav to leave , And wish him well at AFCB
I believe we will sign some cracking players in the next few weeks, mostly off the radar like Hoppe , let's chill out and enjoy the ride.
We all want Gyokores / Riss / etc , but really , I want us to find those type of players .before other clubs. They are out there, the next few weeks will see if we have found them. I know we will have, it all depends on the people who decide which ones we go for, over to CW, KS, SG.
Hoppe and Forss were not in my top ten , so what do I know.

Talks the talk, never delivers . Doesn't even talk anymore now
It’s a shame he’s never quite got the right people in to help make the best possible decisions on the footballing side of things. The club would certainly be in big trouble without him though that’s for sure
