Lenihan

First team captain and Howson club captain?

He never stopped talking and organising, for all Fry's ability and experience he's never grown into a commanding centre half in that way.

Great performance from him, if all the other remaining signings are a similar step up in quality that Lenihan, Giles and Steffen seem to be we should be golden this season.

Just need those pesky forwards sorting next.

Oh I thought Bola did well at LCB too!

Fry has always looked better playing along side a partner who organises and commands.

Lenihan doesn't look as comfortable as our other defenders at playing with the ball. He likes a hoof. The Blackburn fans suggested this. But as a defender yes, top class. Dijksteel, Bola, Giles and Jones all much better at Wilder tactics at this moment.

Really surprised at this because at times last night I thought he looked for a pass when the hoof was possibly the better option, calm, assured, always looked to retain possession.

My one slight concern was that with a team that plays a more pressing style than Marseille is that he might overplay it and be caught in possession but looked a class act last night and looks set to continue our long line of footballing centre backs that you can trace back to Willie Maddren.

A couple of outstanding years at Blackburn by all accounts (blackburn fans).

I have to say I never really knew much about him until linked. Then a quick Google said pretty much everything we needed. A leader and pretty much 'no nonsense' champo CB. He's one of those most champo clubs have and we've not.

I liked how Wilder said he's one that would be stood in the tunnel at Luton on a wet Tuesday night with no shirt on😂. Especially after some of Wilders comments at the back end of last season about players pulling out of challenges etc.

He looks decent. Although I'm not surprised about slotting in. He's played over 250 champo games. It's not like bringing in a 'Payero' or a kid from league 2.

He did well. He will have much harder tests in the weeks to come.

He made one mistake in the second half when he tried to control the ball of his chest rather than get rid of it and could easily have been punished for that.

Potentially a big part of a very sound defensive unit.

I didn’t think he looked as comfortable either, a bit slow and hesitant in making a pass out from the back, comes accross more of a no nonsense old school get rid type of defender, should still be a great signing though.
