OFFICIAL Tour de France Thread 2022

Oooo this is exciting, I don't think there is a TdF specific thread (The Velogames one is there but..) so I will chance my arm creating 'an official FMTTM' one!

Anyway...

Starts at 2:30pm on Eurosport and ITV - Ganna to take yellow? Or Wout? Or MvP?

(If there is a proper thread I'll change the title and wander off into the sunset with my tail in-between my legs)

Ooh didn't realise it was a Friday start (to allow a transfer day from Denmark to France apparently). Stage 1 looks very flat, I can't see many of the GC contenders being interested in anything other than limiting any damage. Any local riders that might fancy a crack at yellow? I'll probably have Eurosport running on my other monitor to keep an eye on things. Tomorrow's stage looks more interesting, at least scenically as they cross that big fkk off bridge.

Three local riders eyeing yellow this weekend.

Mads Pedersen, Kasper Asgreen , Mikael Bjerg ( ITT) have outside yellow chances I would have thought. The ITT course is technical with lots of corners through the centre of Copenhagen. Lots of braking can only open up the result although I still fancy Ganna to take it.

Tomorrow's stage should be interesting as they ride across the big bridge and there may well be tricky winds to navigate and echelons form.

Just watched extended highlights.
Didnt realise the rain was that terrential!
Even so - they were clocking over 50+kmh for 13K!
Woooo

Of course I understand that but a point was made in another thread the DQS had their weakest team they could remember and yet by this evening they may not only have yellow but the first two stage wins as well. We shall see.

I agree with you, I would never call that a weak team. Unless my memory is fooling me, Lefevere gave an interview not so long ago (maybe in France) where he said his aim was to take the first Yellow jersey and hold it for several days. Sounded fanciful at the time but ...

Today would have been the perfect stage and finish for Cav. Especially if there's crosswinds. But it's probably also just as good for Jakobsen. Fingers crossed for an interesting breakaway made more interesting by wind.
