Literally over the road from Middlesbrough - the boundary is Ladgate Lane.
I have been there a couple of times in the past couple of weeks and great to see so many people there enjoying the grounds, the cafe (amazing pasties) as well lots of family events. Seems to me that it is a gem hidden in plain sight right on our doorstep and that people are really coming round to it.

It is in Redcar and Cleveland - the border is the railway line and Ladgate Lane. Stupid I know - bit like Nunthorpe that straddles the boundary.
It's in Middlesbrough. TS3. Redcar and Cleveland isn't a place it is merely a unitary authority - a council area. Ormesby, Eston and Normanby used to fall under Middlesbrough council's umbrella but are now in R&C but they haven't moved location. Guisborough and Skelton are also in the borough of R&C but are clearly not in Redcar.

Ormesby Hall is in Middlesbrough.

Spent a lot of time there as a kid, the woods there is where I remember my dad showing me how to identify different types of tree from each other.

It's an important site in British Arts. Sir Michael Tippett wrote his first opera there, with a libretto by Ruth Pennyman. It also housed Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop before it moved to East London and became internationally famous.

Ruth Pennyman was brilliant. Married to a crusty old Tory, she hosted all manner of lefty stuff there, including taking in many refugees.

Played cricket there a number of times. Sadly the ground is now long gone.

I think Geoff Cook or his brother played for Ormesby Hall. I was in the same team at school but he was way better than me even at a young age.

David Cook (think that’s him) played at Normanby Hall for a good few years. He was a great wicketkeeper.
