Teesside Airshow… more like Teesside **** Show

This thread does for once represent the people of our town. They moan about everything. A day out for over 20,000 enjoying themselves and what do the people on this board do, moan about it.

I have known for weeks about the possible traffic problems, the road signs have been telling me. First it was the Killers concert and recently the air show.

Someone above brought politics into it, it's sod all to do with politics, maybe a bit of bad planning by the council and definitely people who needed to go to Darlington and Yarm.

To make everyone on here happy, all fairs should be banned, all matches on a Saturday as it causes parking problems, all future concerts. Let's just sit in and watch Netflix.

I applied to display a classic motorbike in the show, they didn't even have the courtesy to say they were full. Just left me wondering for months, either that or the tickets have gone awry. I am not surprised the roads were gridlocked early today if that is any indication of how it is being ran.
Anyway it gave me a chance to see how long my car would run on battery whilst crawling along Yarm Road in the que to get home after a trip to Richer Sounds in the Boro. No coughing sparrows near my car, not until the engine kicks in ;-) .

I think people are really positive about the airshow and the killers. People are negative that due to bad planning it has taken 4 hours to travel less than 4 miles.

Sunderland hosts major concerts and a very successful airshow, loads of park and rides and public transport. Decent planning also.

It is criminal how one least used train station in the uk can’t be utilised for such a showcase event.

Blaming Ben Houchen now, FHS

My milks gone sour, I'll blame BH for not warning me about the used by date ;)

Turned off the A66 to the A67 through Eaglescliffe and turned up Aislaby road through Middleton One Row straight into airport. My son used the sat nav for the quickest route with light traffic. Will be a nightmare to get out though.

Yarm was gridlocked most of yesterday and there's been Traffic management on for various roadworks all over Yarm/ Elton and surrounding villages, so I dread to think what it was like today.

I wouldn't have even dreamt of driving there today, those roads just can't handle traffic, other than maybe the A66, but they need somewhere to go from there.

Did they not do a traffic simulation, for the amount of cars they were expecting?

They should have had less parking spaces at the event, and made people park further away at various locations and put buses on, or had walking routes. Even trains to Dinsdale or Eaglescliffe, if they couldn't open the TA train station for one day.
