I actually think coluka did right to leave this board

People just need to refamiliise themselves with the forum rules every now and then.

We're mostly all adults and should be able to debate and present opposing views respectfully without resorting to name calling, abuse or belittling people. There's a lot of needlessly aggressive or passive aggressive posts from some posters when someone else opposes their views or beliefs. We're all individuals so we're all going to have our own take on a myriad of topics. It would lead to ridiculously short threads if everyone agreed with one another.

The ones about how beautiful delicate females that don't post get upset by the use of manly bad language? 😂

I don't think political threads should be banned

However i do think we should have a politics subsection so that all that stuff can go in one dedicated place so those inclined can find it and everyone else can get on with it

That section should have stricter moderation and debate rules in place

I’m not sure it should be in a different place. Sometimes I think it doesn’t do any harm for people to see the destructive consequences of their voting decisions laid out in black and white, especially if they don’t particularly engage with politics or the news otherwise.

It only ever seems to be those of a certain persuasion who moan about the politics threads.
Why should they be insulated from how screwed up things are, partly as a result of their political persuasion?

Far simpler for people just to not open political threads if they are going to wind them up / make them feel guilty, or walk away from threads that get dragged off topic. Surely we all do that from time to time?
Plenty of topics I’m not interested in that I don’t touch.
It’s not exactly difficult.

Without going to much into it, the jubilee thread is just one of many threads that get out of hand, its not even a case of opening threads, its all there in the opening page, day after day

Maybe im to soft, so be it, its the way I see the board going
Erimus won't see this because he's got me on ignore but the front page of the old board regularly featured his gloating Brexit threads.

Having a bad memory must be a bummer eh?

This board is a pussycat compared to the old board and other Boro boards.
I do find some people seem to get offended very easily and I am not thinking about Coluka now as I have no idea why he left. But I think that's society as a whole now. Some people can't wait to start typing their offense at anything and everything.
As for banning of types of threads or putting them in subsections that a big NO from me. If you don't like the content of a thread its one click to close it down.
One Boro has subsections and I don't think I have ever read any except the Transfer Rumours thread.

Also agree that during the close season the board can get a bit stale.

Certainly in recent months posts have only been reflective of the news anyway. If threads on here are making someone uncomfortable then any news programme or newspaper must be the same for them. It's everywhere.

If someone doesn't like the criticism of Johnson then they might be best going off to live in a cave. Because it's not just the "liberal lefty snowflake clique" (or whatever most posters are supposed to be on according to some) that are calling him out for being a fat lying waste of space. It's pretty much everyone. All the time. Including plenty of his own MPs.

Just read the thread title and if you don't like politics don't open simples.
It's amazing how many who moan about political threads can't keep away from them.
I can't stand formula 1 and never open the threads but they don't bother me, probably because I don't open them.
I like erimus 73-74 stuff though, enjoy the memories 👍

What a depressing place its turning into, quite frankly its getting worse

Thats not a dig at you col if youre reading this mate

And to make it worse, I can't find my earphones charger 😔
so true, if we lose I avoid it, and at times the abuse just because someone has an alternate view. Your of the same age as me and maybe we mellow with age I was happy for Sunderland last week they have had enough time in league one and I have a few friends via work who are big fans.
Keep posting Erimus

You can't compare oneboro because they have gone to the other end of the spectrum and made the forum football only, with sections for everything else but have a very small userbase.

Take a look at Sunderland forum for how a well laid out forum with a decent sized userbase can seperate things out well, but not saying we need all those. Having different sections on forums drives conversations about those topics, but this place isn't big enough for that many.

This is like the sticks and stones argument though, sounds great on paper but In reality many threads that aren't political become political and many political threads are totally fine so you don't really know which ones are flint to become a ***show

Morning Erimus74. I did leave the board for a while as it was getting toxic at times. Since I've returned I think it has improved. I've had a couple of underhand comments to a couple of my posts, where for whatever reason a poster is trying to get a reaction. I do however enjoy reading several posters comments on various subjects which I find interesting, including your on this day posts.

bang goes 'badge of the day'

strange these brexiteer champions moaning and flouncing over their politics.

perhaps the shame of destroying their country is too much for them - it cant be the contents of the board, they have all been here for 'years & years' - they know how it rolls.
Didnt say I was leaving johnny, or do you just read what you want to & leave the rest out, brexiteers again hey, didnt take long mind

I have no regrets of how I voted

I’m not mentally strong enough to post on here. I know Jack all about playing football although I obviously have an opinion about most things footy related and deep down I love the Boro. But since the pandemic this has become a social outlet for me. I’m isolated and alone all day. I’ve made quite clear my struggles with life and it’s kept me going at times.

There are about half a dozen posters on here who seem to revel in creating division. I’ve never voted Conservative in my life - and hope I never will - but I’ve no time for those posters who push their republican/extreme left wing views.

I’ve got about a dozen people on block. So I don’t have to read the sh1te they wrote.

The answers simple. Use the ignore function.
