Jordan Rhodes to return?

I think we could actually do with a tap in merchant. The majority of the balls we put in are flashed low across the 6 yard box. The problem this season is most of our forwards used to hang out on the edge of the box.

Tbh depends how he is played. Lone striker no chance but I'd have him pairing a good-scoring striker any day of the week for the tap ins. Just needs the right partnership

6 goal a season strikers are not the answer !
Whilst I agree....

If Coburn, Balogun, Ikpeazu and Connolly had all scored six for us this season there's a really good chance we'd have been in the play-offs, and may have been in the final next week.
We need more goals throughout the squad, whilst I doubt we're even in for him, but as a cheap 4th option we could probably do a lot worse (and let's face it, we normally do with strikers).

If our ambitions don’t relate to obtaining a 15-20 goal season striker next year that can also physically dominate defenders, then the last day optimism people expressed after Wilder’s post match comments I fear will soon evaporate.
were unlikely to get a 15-20 goal CF, Wilder rotates his CFs so it's unlikely anyone will get enough game time to reach those figures.

What matters is how many goals we get as a team, and how many we keep out.

I suspect Coburn will be loaned out, he needs to up his game time and League Two with Hartlepool would be perfect for him.

So we've got 1 striker and we need another 3 or 4. Strikers are expensive, a free transfer, with bags of experience, knows the club and area, a model pro, knows the league and doesn't complain at being a sub would be ideal for one of those striker positions.

Rhodes in his latter years, has bulked out a bit, he's more of a physical presence than he used to be and his scoring isn't bad.

21/22 - 4 goals and 3 assists from just 6 starts and 17 sub appearances. A goal every 130 minutes
20/21 - 7 goals and an assist in 15 starts and 21 sub appearances. A goal every 210 minutes
19/21 - 3 goals in 7 starts and 9 sub appearances. A goal every 230minutess.
18/19 - 6 goals and 1 assist in 9 starts and 27 sub appearances. A goal every 160 minutes

Despite his scarce and scattered appearances, he still scores a goal every 2 to 2.5 games.

He isn't the answer to our goalscoring, issues bit he fits a wilder system in that he is a hard worker off the ball, and makes plenty of intelligent runs in possession, and he can finish.

It’s possibly better to form an option on our completed forward players rather than individual players . We were averaging over 2 Pts a game under wilder for a bit without prolific strikers but as he says , we need to be hitting 75 goals so I’d expect someone coming in will have to ability to score a good 15 goals if it’s within our budget

So it is Bernie we want back then - surely his age won't matter as all he got was tap ins (lol)

Alan Nixon ???.

Another journo with so called contacts.

Time he ditched the contact if thats the garbage he's getting

I am not sure if we had a 15-20 striker he would be rotated that often. I heard him speak highly of Gyökeres towards the end of the season and how he would love to have someone like that. If we could get someone similar, a big ask I know I am not sure he would be rotated in the way that happened after January this year.

The worry for me is that having brought the two loans in January he almost had to pick them even though they were less effective than what we had.

Rhodes in many ways wouldn’t be a gamble as a squad player he was excellent against us.
