Did we settle for the point?

Was that the right thing to do? Did we even do that? It's just a wondering.

I think Swansea played some very nice football but is it just me that thought they were there for the taking? Every time we pressed them they looked shaky but we didn't do it enough. I might be being harsh but to my mind we really needed to push on today. Though I accept we had the better chances.

I just wonder as it seems like we decided to grab the point today but that just puts the pressure all onto Wednesday. Cardiff are just going to turn up and sit there a la Hull City. I feel like we had the chance to open the opposition up more than we did today, whereas it's going to be a ball-ache on Wednesday IMO.

That's just it I think. We started the day three points off where we need to be, we end it five off and with one fewer game to play. We are taking it down to the wire but the pressure intensifies when you do that. I just feel like we could've pushed a bit more today.

Nah, we went for the win. Tav misses a glorious chance @ 1-0 they go straight on and equalise.
Bola hits the bar
Dijksteel has a great chance to put us 2-1
Daniels makes a great save to push the ball onto the bar
They miss a great opportunity from a free kick to go 2-1 up
Connolly then hits the post when he really should have scored.

The second half was crazy open, but we really should have won the game with those cracking chances. Poor finishing cost us we had the chances.

I feel we've now put ourselves in a position where two home wins may just be enough to scrape us over the line, as it could come down to GD or Sheff Utd could lose both of their games. I feel we'll go all out to win the next two and it could be quite exciting to watch.

If we had lost today it would have put pressure on us to get results in all three of our remaining games.

I'm not sure if that was in Wilders' thinking and he purposely set us up today to play for the draw, but either way it's really not too bad of a result for us.

A lot of clutching of straws going on here. I am not hopeful. It's not impossible but it's looking unlikely now.

Sheff U and Milwall are both in better form than us having both got 2 wins and 2 draws from their last five compared to our 2 draws. In fact nobody has less return then us in the whole division with only Blackburn and Barnsley as bad. So the 3 teams we are yet to play have done better than us recently. In particular Stoke City are in good form.

Sheff and Milwall have on paper tough final games against Fulham and Bournemouth but they could both be 'on the beach' by then. All our remaining games are tough because we need to win at least two of them and to do so means scoring goals which we really struggle to do. It's not that we have been playing that badly but if you keep missing chances like we do then it's hard to see where we are going to pick up enough points.

Sheff U fans are probably thinking that if they can beat QPR that could well be enough for them.

On reflection that point isn’t a bad result as it’s a tough place to go.

And we are still in the mix if qpr beat sheff u ( not an easy place to go) but it’s going to be tough.

Then they would be very wrong.
I think we will beat Cardiff and Preston. Beating Stoke is toughest, but we may not even need to.

I see Sheff U struggling at QPR and at home to Fulham.
I see Millwall losing at Bournemouth.

Very much all to play for.
Payero and McGree to start on wednesday and Connolly a long way from the team.

We looked ok second half and it looked like we had thrown caution to the wind a bit more - I think we were going for the win.

I feel sorry for Conolly - If that had gone in it would have been the equivalent of the Rhodes goal V bolton all those years ago (remember Jordan Rhodes who wasn't good enough for us?)

I thought we went for it in the second half. To say Swansea were there for the taking is bit of a wind up in my opinion. They are on a 8 match unbeaten run and thus one of the form teams of the division. Its not easy to get the ball off them. There are beatable yes but that's not the same as there for taking. We had 6 excellent chances in the second half but only took one.

Out of our hands now. Never saw that coming.
If we do get through if Fulham beat Shef Utd and we win I'm much less confident of progressing in the play offs.
This is the Boro
It's never been straight forward FFS

'There for the taking' is more a comment on the times we pressed them, particularly in the first half. We caught them out and made them stumble and concede possession. I just feel like we didn't do it enough. Though we did create the better chances. It's a good point away from home against a pretty decent side, but it feels like another game we should've won.

So what happened after we scored, they came back straight away and scored within 2 mins, did we switch off???

We were immediately pushing for another, Tavernier missed a glorious chance to make it 2-0 and they scored on the break from that chance.

Howson had a shocker in midfield in the build-up too.

I don't feel remotely sorry for Connolly.

Rhodes wasn't good enough for Boro in the PL, or for anybody in the PL.
He hasn't been good enough in the Championship for 6 years. Not good enough to get in Sheff Wed team(7 goals in 1487 minutes last season), or Huddersfield team either (3 goals in 665 minutes this season), or Norwich in Championship (6 goals in 1010 minutes in 2018-19).
He has been a sub everywhere he has been since he left us and scored 27 goals in 157 appearances totalling just 6729 minutes on the pitch across 6 seasons at 3 Championship clubs.
Howson has played 3661 minutes, over 800 minutes longer this season than Rhodes has played in the last 3 and nearly as many as in the last 4 seasons combined.
Rhodes doesn't start in the first team in the Championship and has 27 league goals in the last SIX seasons.
Jordan Rhodes wasn't good enough for us and still isn't.
I do think he showed real class on his last appearance at The Riverside in the way he handled himself.
It is a pity that he never scored one for us there.

I thought it was fairly end to end, I don't think we settled for a draw, neither side had enough grip on the game to dictate something like that. Plus we had a glorious chance at the end
