Always liked a bit of downhill skiing.... watching.... MTB'ing is the closest I've gotten to it... excellent stuff.

Dave Ryding has won Britain's first alpine skiing World Cup gold medal with victory in the Kitzbuhel Slalom.

Ryding, 35, was on Friday named in Great Britain's squad for the Beijing Winter Olympics - his fourth Games.

I always liked the Ski Jumping - don't get how they go from a small jump as a kid/teenager to the huuuuuuuge ramp, but still...

First slalom medal of any kind in world cups

Conrad Bartelski (silver) and Davina Galica (2 x Bronze) both in the Downhill the previous alpine skiing medals.

Alan Baxter won an Olympic bronze medal in slalom but was stripped of his medal because of his drug test failure.

Divina Galica if I am not mistaken was some sportswoman. Not only did she achieve two thirds in downhill she went on to become the second ever woman to drive a F1 car in a World Championship season. 1976.

Just seen the highlights. The 4 skiers ahead of him from the first run all failed to complete their run. Amazing David and Goliath story.

What a shame she didn't complete the last part of that downhill race. Still, it was some going for women in those days.

James Hunt would do anything for a shag.
