Yes, I was going to highlight that but decided to give it another day or so, in order to see if it's a real trend. Could just be a blip at this stage or could be something systematic, perhaps related to the return of schoolchildren after Christmas?
Must be schools going back and the twice weekly testing involved. A couple of family and close friends have kids off this week because of a positive LFT but no symptoms. Even my youngest is off till next week with a positive LFT but a negative PCR which we got the results for this morning. Booked another one tomorrow to rule it out completely.

Cases seem to have hit a bit of a bump on the downward trend.
Wish I could see the level of cases by region/area to understand what is going on. They tend to be 5 days behind the national stats.

I've said before that my borough was the COVIDest place in the country just before Christmas and saw a huge increase in cases before everywhere else. Since the new year we have also seen a huge decrease in cases. Until the last three days when it (the 7-day average of new cases) has gone more or less flat. Just when the government has decided to remove all COVID measures.

Really don't see why they decided to relax everything....it's no hardship wearing a mask in shops etc...

Where I am covid cases have fallen on the figures, however hospital admissions have steadily increased at the same time. Also anecdotally far more people are positive in my friend/ family/ colleague groups currently.

7-day average for new cases and number of Covid patients in English hospitals both beginning to plateau.

I said yesterday that the 7-day average for new cases appeared to be plateauing, which it is (as is now the 7-day average for deaths).

However, I also thought the number of Covid patients in English hospitals was plateauing. On closer inspection, that would appear to have been due mainly to some sort of weekend effect.

Delays to hospitalisation data for England. I think, perhaps though, we've passed the point where its daily posting here is still useful.
