Boris planning to scrap Covid rules completely

Well I'm very glad I can go into the office a couple of times a week, will help with maintaining a bit of sanity.
Don't see why they would remove facemask obligations - I mean it's no F***ing hassle at all really is it - and I say this as an asthmatic. So I'll keep wearing mine on the tubes and in shops.
Removing the requirement to isolate also seems stupid as you'll get ***** with covid spreading it all over the shop, you know what some people are like "I've never had a day off sick in my life MASSIVE COUGHING FIT and I'm not starting now MASSIVE COUGHING FIT LAUNCHES GOBS OF FLEM ACROSS THE ROOM"

I'm out at a gig on Friday so I'm not really worried about me but I agree that maintaining mask wearing on public transport and in shops would seem to be prudent and sensible not least as a way to re-adjust to normal. But no thrown away to appease the lunatic fringe.

Where on earth are these unvaccinated NHS going to go and work. Pretty much the entire world is going to have vaccine mandates for health workers. Are they going to go get a job at Amazon instead out of principle ?

I expect it will quietly get dropped before the deadline. I personally think that they should take the vaccine. The only argument I have seen that holds water is that many of them have had CV19 and therefore carry a natural resistance to the virus making it unnecessary. Which is fine and a valid point, the problem is when it comes to AntiVaxxers holding these medical people up as proving them correct. Still we are now entering the last throws of this, I think we have just been thrown to the vagaries of survival of the fittest.

Good luck everyone.

Biggest daily death total since February was recorded yesterday, incidentally. That's with Covid on the death certificate but only within 28 days. Of the four people I know that have died with Covid related complications, three were within 28 days, the youngest in his 50s was I'll for months before passing away.

I think you raise a valid point that a doctor not being vaccinated could be used as a poster boy, or girl, for anti vaxxer, probably wrongly.

I still think it's a dumb idea to mandate vaccinations for Covid for existing staff. You do still raise a valid point.

The research on natural immunity is interesting. Apparently you can catch Omicron even if you've had Delta. But you're much less likely to catch Delta if you've had Omicron.

Boris is relaxing the rules to save his skin. It may not carry weight among board members but it seems it may among some of his back benchers.

I understand the government in England don't report covid infection if it is not the first time that person is infected.

In the reported data published by ONS do they count recurrent infection in their data. e.g vaccination with infection.

I wondered if the official data was different to case data published daily.

On average the vaccinated are currently experiencing higher rates of Omicron than the unvaccinated. How is insisting that a health care worker be vaccinated protecting anyone? The only way to protect patients to some degree would be with regular testing of healthcare workers.

Lying lickspittle?

Where is your evidence for this statement please?
I think people like @br14 twist and lie about statistics to suit their own agenda. It probable more people who are vaccinated have got omicron than this who are unvaccinated, pure because most of the country IS vaccinated. Ask him how many vaccinated have caught Omicron as a percantage of people vaccinated, compared to percentages of unvaccinated people catching it. That'll stump him
