Why does Warnock feel the need to STILL criticise Payero?

It really is becoming tiresome the way Warnock handles Payero. The lad puts in arguably a man of the match performance yet Warnock appears to concentrate on raising the negatives in equal doses as the positives.

Frankly, Payero needs to feel wanted and valued by the club and management . I question if Warnock grasps this. There is a player there for sure, maybe Warnock needs to analyse his words more carefully- or maybe he has lost touch with the multi facets required for handling the different mindsets of players. Frankly, Payero could be more important to us than a final season manager.

A. He wasn't man of the match or even in top 3 - Bamba, Paddy, Hernandez all better for me.

B. We've spent money on him and there is more to deliver - Warnock was fair in his post-match comments I thought - praised him at times and criticised where needed. Warnock should be judged by what time he gives him on the pitch to prove himself. He's fit so now he needs to start a run of games, especially against bottom half Championship teams where he can build his confidence.

Agree its because it wasn't his man similar with the fact Siliki is not getting game time he desperately needs. Bamba yes his man and he has been great so far but he is not the future and it was amassive gamble signing him. McNair was not his man but he loves him. Never calls him out even though he has had some shockers over last two years. Hernandez surely he must have come in through the link with Kieran Scott.

Correct in what you say about Payero needing game time.

I do feel he'll get a run of a few games now, especially with Crooks doing so well in the holding role - I think that alone solves one headache for NW, as it will allow Howson (or mcnair) to drop into defence if needed.

I'd personally like to see a midfield 2 of Crooks and Siliki, with Payero just in front.

I would keep a similar line up for our next game with a couple of changes. The defence did quite well makeshift as it was but when I ratchet the sky highlights they didn't show a single posh attack, we kept them that quiet.

I would play Jones from the start though.

Who would you drop for Jones?

I'd maybe give Coburn the nod over Uche?

I was delighted for Payero and his second half, I hope he gets a long run of matches.
But he was anonymous in the first half at best and that is as fair comment as his late second half being very good.
It seems people have agendas rather than say what they see.
Either that or they are not looking.

You are right he was quiet in the first half as we're most of the team. That he grew into the game shouldn't be a surprise given his lack of opportunity.

What people are saying, I guess, it's that the second half performance is his level and warnock should be getting that kind of performance regularly.

Or maybe Leo can't get the message across to him?

We all want the same thing which is the Payero of the last quarter.

All this 'thinking aloud' in front of the media. Is it deliberate, or he just can't help doing it?
I guess that's why the press love him, like "Good Old" / "Dodgy" Harry Rednapp he can be relied on to spout something that either he shouldn't or that might be better kept in house. Like a good friend of mine the gob is always five seconds in front of the brain. No off switch or mute function.

On the subject of Payero, the next game is an ideal opportunity for him to start delivering a confidence booster if you like. We just need to get him and Siliki playing and delivering and we could be entertaining to watch. Be nice wouldn't it?

I agree he wasn't in the top three, but he had best performance for us, got an assist and put the effort in. A good man manager would use that as a way to improve the relationship with, and confidence of the player. Warnock has a history of falling out with players

I'm not sure. However NW's persistent public criticism of players, is not good for their motivation. Privately have the conversation for sure to help them improve etc. Nothing to be gained by airing in the open.
