Southgate

Granted, I dont have any time for international football but come on, he's the best thing we've had since Sir Alf, whether he's been fortunate to have the crop of players at his disposal is another matter, he's acheived so much in such a short time

I think the best way we'll probably know how well he's done is when he calls it a day & someone else comes in whose perfect

And he is largely responsible for developing and bringing them through at international level due to his work at u21 level and in the whole set up at st George park.

we are the best we’ve been in my lifetime and I just don’t know what some people want. Imagine where we’d be now if Big Sam hadn’t shown his true colours!!!! Laughable.

Yes very good shout, you could say he's been the one whose developed them at the very start of their careers

Is the main reason England won't win a championship.

Get a proper manager in and we will sweep up but not with him.
not this nonsense again.

Southgate has:
- more competitive wins as England manager than anyone else
- more competitive goals as England manager
- more finals wins than any England manager
- more finals goals than any England manager
- 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 7th place is his competitions record making his aggregate placing far in excess of any England manager
- has never failed to qualify - qualifying, the rogues gallery includes the following failures include Ramsey (three times), Revie, Greenwood, Robson, Taylor, McClaren

The idea that Southgate is the problem, is born of prejudice, anti-intellectualism, lack of analysis of the facts. The idea that Southgate is rubbish due to not winning atrophy is silly, there is only a trophy every 1 or 2 season, he took over a self destructed and aged squad, has revamped it, changed our playing philosophy, and despite NOT having the best squad in the world, and having one of the most inexperienced squads out of the top nations, we are truly in the mix for every competition we enter, for the first time in my life.

We should get that fella who is in charge of Belgium, I mean he's took them to number 1 in the world and their squad is garbage. I can't even think of 1 player they have that would get anywhere near our squad

Thank God we had Henderson fit and available to come on last night.

If we'd been able to choose Belgians, we'd have ended up bringing on De Bruyne instead.

Anti-intellectualism. Nailed the parlous state of this country in one tiny phrase. We don't need experts anymore. Which is why I won't be visiting any more of those doctors in the future, I'll just ask the bloke in the pub, he knows everything.

Southgate has done something that I can't remember an England manager achieving since I was a boy. His squad conduct themselves like he does - with equal parts dignity and passion. He has got non-football fans full-square behind his team because they can see he is honest, decent and cares - really cares - about his country. His record as England manager speaks for itself, and while it's all about opinions, those who clearly want him to fail need to give their heads a shake.

I thought it was a mistake to take Grealish off last night - he is the only one playing consistently for his club in the attacking sense.
I'm sure Gareth had his reasons.

I am a big fan of southgate, but yes I'd have Grealish on, he pampered to the fans for the first time last night, playing one holding midfielder and it didn't work and proved why he has been right to play two regularly.

Pampered? I think he saw Grealish and Foden’s performances on Saturday and felt it was a no brainer to play them. And they both were plus points last night. It was Mount for me who disappointed. Yes I understand you stick to your principles and he probably will for Albania.
