Ronaldo's brought his diving game back I see

See your point, but I was referring to the point of a player going down so cheaply to win a penalty, free kick for him/his team, cheating

I don't see time wasting as cheating, never have, its always been part of the game, Liverpool made a fine art of it, passing back to the keeper etc

''but some are far worse than others''
Thats like saying Boris lies all the time but kier Starmer dosent lies as much

Starmer hasn't been sacked for lying; Johnson has, at least twice.

So we gone from all the time to at least twice 😞

He's talking about his diving.

Well I wish we had a player who is even half as embarrassing - the guy has been and still is a quality footballer
He certainly is quality and that is what is sad about this thread, the fact that we are talking about the dubious side of his game says it all for me.
His cheating is what will always come into any discussion on his game, why does such a great player find it necessary to cheat the way he does ? It's a shame.

Part of his game & football in general I dispice, why can't these match commentators call these players out, why can't the after match interviewers ask the managers after the game, "why do your players need to dive to fool the officials to give a penalty"
Absolutely Erimus ! if they were held more to account for cheating it would maybe help to reduce it.

Maybe, but just because someone anticipates that they're going to be fouled doesn't mean that they therefore can't be fouled. That's a non-sequitur.
Whilst that is true, the foul is irrelevant because he has simulated first.

The dive comes first, therefore if he is fouled after, it doesn't matter.

Thankfully the ref saw right through him.

Hopefully next time he gets booked and then sent off if he does it a second time.

No place in the game and yet he's done it regularly for 20 years.

So how does a referee deduce a foul has been committed? Surely in a contact sport, a foul can only be if it has impeded you in some way. If you're going down before any contact has been made, how can you argue it's foul play?
And if we are at a place where any contact in the box from the opposition, regardless of context, then therefore every corner is going to result in a penalty kick.

If you put the ball past someone and they miss the ball and hit you then it’s a foul. Does Ronaldo have to do his very best to get out of the way? No he doesn’t. Is he looking for it? Yeah he is, and he bloody well found it. Does he need to suffer a broken leg in order to get the penalty?
If you go sliding in and completely miss the ball then you will likely give a penalty away.
