We don't seem to be going anywhere fast but I'm not particularly surprised.
We've had huge upheaval in the squad and are stuck between a manager with an ethos that probably doesn't align with a longterm strategy the club wants to implement.
We have enough quality to do okay but I think the amount of change and the inconsistency from the players has been a factor for quite some time and it will be reflected in both our play and our overall finish.
Tav, Fry and Mcnair are our main men/saleable assets but if I'm completely honest I think they're inconsistent players themselves. They have some great games and runs of form but I'm still not convinced they provide the nucleus of a promotion challenging squad.
I think we probably overestimate the realistic quality of the squad we have, its been all over the shop for ages really.
That said, it does look better than it has for some time. Second half of last season was poor but we had some absolute bobbins players and some bad attitudes by the sounds of it.
We do now have some quality, let's see if he can figure out a team that gets the best out of that quality.
Worth mentioning Sporar and Siliki have had about 3 days of training max and are new to this country.
The players another poster mentioned earlier as having bedded in very quickly have all played their football in England at this level before. As has Hernandez who is our signing that looked most comfortable yesterday. Not a coincidence.
