I think some people need to accept one thing - Boris is popular

I’ve seen a lot on here slagging him off for this and that and I’ll admit I don’t get it either but regardless of what we think the reality is that Boris is hugely popular with the British electorate.

often in politics the party is more important than than the leader but in Boris the tories have a truly unique asset he is the key to their success not policies not legacy but the individual himself.

look at the reception he got in his visits to Hartlepool, similar to trump in the us the man the myth is bigger than the fact and reality.

the question is how do you fight this in such a celebrity obsessed multi media world.

Not much can be done to stop the phenomenon that is Boris, just got to hope that he gets bored, moves on and the torys in their wonderful way elect JRM or The Gove!!!

I don’t accept it, if you read his biography he is a nasty piece of work, he is well shielded by the Tory media.

A Labour Boris Johnson would be ridiculed until the people hated him.

Its all about the propoganda.

No argument to any of that and as I said I don’t get it either but the reality is. as much as I don’t get it either is that HE is extremely popular in this country.

I read a comment from trump’s poll advisor and he said we all realised from early in the campaign v Hillary that the personality of trump was the key and so the more he acted like trump the better it played to his base so there strategy was simple...be more trump.

Boris is exactly the same.

He is. But the lies will catch up with him. But probably before that the men in the grey suits will tire of him and he will be gone.
For those who find him a despicable human who lies and cheats, the next 18 months will have to be endured. But it will end

He will be if he is allowed to get away with the things he does.

Apparently on a personal level there is nothing, he struggles to form relationships, you never see him actually talking to people do you? It’s always a quick selfie with a ridiculous thumbs up pose.

He‘s a complete pretender aided and abetted by the right wing media, there is no charisma.

Unfortunately the majority of the electorate won’t look into things further than a newspaper headline or a social media post. He has somehow managed to convince people he is their mate (wonder how many world leaders are referred to by their first name). Anyone who is against him is also against British working class values. I really don’t know how anyone can think he is looking out for their best interests given his background, but that’s the situation we have.

If people actually bothered to research and question these things, then the party would just fall apart. In fact if people in general would research and not take everything they were told then the world would be a much better place. It’s exactly how we ended up with brexit, playing on people’s fears and growing nationalism across the country.

Let’s face it, if the super rich are telling you the reason you’re struggling is because of immigration, or benefit claimants, you must be an idiot not to question that

Ever read The Emperors New Clothes by Hans Christian Andersen ? Someone just needs to point out he’s got feck all on that’s all, an it’ll all come crashing down

Exactly this

I've been trying to tell people this - you can all go on, but Boris is popular

I can't see Labour re-building any trust for a long time.... particularly if places like Teesside start to prosper with everything that's planned by the Tories

Also Scotland leaving basically means Labour can't get into power on English votes alone

Is this all an affect / legacy from the Blair Years?

> Introduction of Min wage
> Introduction of Tuition fees
> Introduction of Devolved Parliaments
> Headed more towards the EU

Labour politicians and especially the leader Starmer need to slag Boris off. Relentlessly. Every day of every week.

It's no good going around saying you won't "oppose for oppositions sake" or won't "politicise the pandemic" and then complaining months later when the public still like Boris. They need to attack him constantly until it just becomes word association for the public.

When people hear the name 'Boris' they should be thinking thieving, cheating, pile the bodies high, posho moron. Make it embarrassing for people to say they like him.

Completely agree and let’s hope that is now what happens with the ‘Covid national emergency‘ seemingly gone now.

Unfortunately it has become apparent that many, possibly most, people either don't care about or don't understand the appalling corruption. People being interviewed saying things like 'who cares who pays for his wallpaper' says to me that they are unable to comprehend what has happened, or they do comprehend and would love for someone to pay for their own interior decorating needs so good on jolly Boris for getting someone to cough up.

Was it Mark Twain who said 'the more I see of people, the more I like my dog'? I'm going to have to get a dog.

What are you on about? The Covid National Emergency is only over when ALL adults have been vaccinated - many of us haven't even had 1 jab yet - but I guess because all you OAPs are fine, then sod the rest of us

No trust? And yet Labour absolutely decimated the Tories in the mayoral votes, some seriously big numbers backed Labour candidates, enough to elect dozens and dozens of Hartlepool Tory MPs.

I‘m only listening to your Bunter, he said he had sorted it...

At least some are trying but as long as MSM let him get away with it its falling in deaf ears

This man really makes me sick. This is coming from the highest level of government too, why isn’t the reporter or anyone else questioning this? Anyone taken in by this is a complete idiot.
Wonder what he’s going to blame in 5 years time when unemployment is still up, along with food bank usage, poverty and deprivation still on the rise as they have been for the duration of this government.
Sadly the country is going to get what it deserves for voting this man in
