Is ordering three meals on expenses acceptable.

Maybe she is misinterpreting the policy and believes because it is fifty she feels the need to max up to the limit. Maybe she is inviting colleagues or other project team members. Fifty quid isn’t that excessive for Switzerland - maybe you could sign them off this time and maybe get someone to send around a reminder or some clarity on the policy.

My employer slipped up and never gave the guys the expense guidelines so In some respects we maybe screwed. This makes it unfair on our own people though who don’t have such a perk
I really think you need to issue the expenses guidelines retrospectively, and specify up to £50 for a single meal only and explain it to her that she ordered three, not one and her claim would be rejected next time. In other words if she wants to gorge, let her at her own expense . I don't like greed, not when there are starving children in the world. You see it at the breakfast buffets diving in as if it was their last meal. And gents I'm not talking about going for seconds, it's when it's piled high upto the f'i'n ceiling!

Depends on where you are. In Zurich, Geneva and Bern it won’t get you much. In the more remote locations it gets you a whole lot more
And which location is said large lady working? You are asking for advice and yet you are light in detail. Can you pop up her food receipts so we can all have a look?
- and then maybe we could all chip in and offer some sensible advice complete with the facts.

1. Update all workers with the guidelines and an explanation, if necessary.

2. Pay up on the outstanding expense claims.

I'd also want to know how you define a meal - if it's explicitly "One main-course from a set menu." or if it's just a vague "One main meal."

For the latter there'd be no argument against three pizzas being a main meal assuming she ate them all herself and they came in under the £50 limit.

Naturally, I’m not going to publish personal expenses and receipts on here, She is from Florida, works In Visp and stays in Brig

Yes you can, just scribble out the names etc

What do you get in a £50 pizza, lumps of ground up fillet steak and bits of caviar?

Come on, who still gets expenses on a hard copy? I get an electronic invoice with her timesheet, invoice, charge rate and expenses. You’re asking me to snip a photo of a receipt with three pizzas on it and post it on social media from a works computer?

Well the receipt itself would neither show her details or betray any confidences. I’m just being nosey and want to see what £50 gets you in Visp and Brig these days.
by the way just seen this review on google reviews from a restaurant in Visp.

I could only manage 3 pizzas which was most excellent. The girl serving me was lovely although she did think it odd that I asked for three separate checks. Really nice place.

Ha ha, I like it! A pizza in Brig will cost you about 20 francs - this particular receipt had three pizzas for about 60 Swiss Francs (65 Swiss francs = £50)

in Bern (where I stay) for two pizzas delivered it will cost you about £50-60 and an Indian takeaway for two about £60-£70 (two mains, two naans and a rice)

She may be dieting or even bulimic. Had first meal thinking that would do her but still hungry had the second, gets to near bedtime gets a snack before turning in.

She could be eating at a Swiss equivalent of Starters or god forbid a Gordon Ramsey type place.

Maybe she has had a few sherbets and ask the hotel to put it down as food because of company drinks policy. How many have worked as contractors and done that before.

Could be lots of reasons but she hasn't gone over the limit so you should pay it. If you wish to have a word later just come out and ask her.

EDIT: should have read the rest of your thread before posting.

Sounds to me she is having a meal and having a couple of drinks with it and getting them to put it down as food. Lots of companies have no alcohol policies so maybe this is her way round it.

Yes. Easy. Screenshot. Takes <1 min.

Otherwise your claim will be open to conjecture and ridicule.

Understand how to take a screenshot! To take a screenshot from a personal invoice (regardless of what the content is) and post it on social media on a works computer is a sackable offence
