Could we be coming into form at the right time?

5 points off isn’t insurmountable- agreed. But we are relying on a team whose only consistency has been their inconsistency- something that has to change

Tomorrow is huge and if the games go our way with we'll be 2 points adrift potentially.

With Bournemouth and Barnsley still to play and in this form you wouldn't be a fool to even be remotely optimistic.

I've just got a strong feeling that Sheffield Wednesday will beat Barnsley tomorrow, I think the desperation will really sink in for them and they'll pull off an upset.

We still need to win ourselves either way, but if we do win tomorrow I'll start to think it's fully doable.

this season has the feeling of 1966/67 and 1986/87. I know there were no play offs then and it was promotion from league 3 to 2. but in each of those seasons we were behind at this point and came through with a terrific run at the end. if we replicate that then we go into the play offs on a high.
come on Boro we can do this!!!!!

You're absolutely right about our inconsistency, however in the last handful of games we have been as consistent as we have been all season. No real stinkers in the last 5 or 6 games.

We were poor against Preston until they went down to 10.

We'll need a lot of luck and a following wind, but we haven't had much go our way this season, so we're due a few.

I also think in Tav and Kebano we have two extremely good attacking players and good options off the bench in every game.

NO MORE INJURIES, PLEASE

Could we be coming into form at the right time?

Yes. Maybe no, who knows. It's been a roller coaster season and mainly fun but we have too many points to make up. I think time and games have run out tbf

However we have the positive of a great nucleus of a team, another year of Warnock. Next year could be very special

Ebor, Ebo, Ebor, there is not an insurmountable gap, all season I have said we will be there or thereabouts. I am more convinced than ever we will make the playoffs, we are starting to string results together and all the teams around us will drop points.

6 wins out of 9 we need minimum. That will get us to 74 points, which is usually what gets you into the play-off positions.

I can see us getting 6 wins, which I think will get you in the playoffs too. The teams outside the top 4 ae much of a muchness, us included, but as I have said we are running into form, and have a very good run in.

Just when you thought they were getting in to some kind of consistent form they blow it. Well at least they are consitent in that.
Very frustrating but in the cold light of day what is happening is something I knew in my heart of hearts back in January with those unfathomable run of home defeats.

Those still staring at the table believing the gap could still be made up reminds me of a young boy staring at the most expensive toy in the shop window wishing it could be his. It could be but it wont be.

Any team regularly playing the likes of Spence, Saville, Akpom, Fletcher and Howson will be no where near the playoffs.

I think this season is finished for us now. As Cardiff said, the gap could be made up if all the results go for us and we hit proper form but I don't believe that will happen. And if we did manage to get to the playoffs, could we win them? Could we even match the teams that are likely to be in the play offs? I very much doubt it.
If this sounds defeatist then sorry, but look at where we were only 12 months ago when we all had squeaky bottoms. The progress made has been fantastic. At the beginning of the season we would have gladly settled for mid table obscurity, so to be flirting with the play off places has been an unexpected bonus. and with more progress next season we shall surely be in the promised land.

you ae right trug, except for one important point, we will make the playoffs. We treaded water today, table wise, which was disappointing, and.... We were awful today, except for 15 minutes after half time, I mean really lacklustre, no passion, no belief no drive. That really annoyed me. Did Warnock get the lineup wrong? Probably, would it have made a difference, yep I think so. Bear in mind we were beaten by a sloppy own goal. For as bad as we played, the defeat was comedic.

Cardiff won at Swansea so Boro went down a place. If the target is 74 points - and that might not be enough with a poor goal difference - then that's 18 points from 8 games. So five wins and three draws. The wins must include Bournemouth and Barnsley.

Boro are gradually getting themselves behind the eight ball.
