Going from bad to worse for the Labour Party

Latest Yougov pol from the 4th March has them dropping another 4 points to the Tories in the latest voting intentions poll. (Conservative 45% / Labour 32%) 3 weeks ago there was just 3% difference... now its 13%

What's going wrong?

I could ask what have the Tories done right ever, but since 1979 will do for starters. And by right I don't mean forge a cesspit of lies and corruption with the rich, the powerful and the media to propagate the agenda and get the gullible to swallow it and vote for the same old same old.

Given the free ride that Starmer has received it's a real shame on him moment.

Gutting the left of the party - hiding reports
Offering no opposition
Rolling over on all the corruption by the tories
Having no ideas outside of platitudes.

I'm sure the extreme centrists will be along to defend him shortly (you know the ones who want the feel good factor of voting labour when they're actually tories whilst not understanding politics or how the nation's feels)

The country is crying out for some opposition. 😡

This is the thing for me... He started out strong and fresh but now offers nothing (bit like Britt for us)

We need a credible opposition (even I can say that as a Tory voter) and we just don't have that.

Free ride?
Extreme Centrists?

Nothing Labour say or do right now gets any airtime unless it's negative, even if it's not a negative it gets turned into one.

The Tories are the ones getting a free ride and that's why they are up in the polls.

I think both sides are getting an easy ride in the press at the moment.... I genuinely can't remember the last time I saw a negative story about either of them.

Rightio mate if you think Starmer is getting a hard time where were you when Corbyn was leading the party.

You're deluded if you think Starmer isn't the sole reason to blame for party performance currently.

The government did a good job in securing deals for the vaccine and the NHS have done a brilliant job of getting people vaccinated. It was always going to reflect well on the government and they are getting a bounce in the polls. But only a couple of months ago Labour were statistically tied with the Tories in the polls.

Labours opportunity to get its story across was always going to be once the pandemic was over and the difficult choices have to be made on how we as a country pay for it - tax v spend, investment v austerity.

3 years out from an election and whilst still in the teeth of the biggest public health crisis in the last 100 years, with the only news anyone is listening to being what happening on Covid , its way too early to be writing Starmer or Labour off.

The news media have said very very little about the contracts on PPE, the issues with Brexit or the massive wealth gaps the pandemic has exposed, to name just a few.

Yes Starmer needs to be stronger and more vocal on these issues, but given the damage done to the labour brand under the Corbyn regime, I personally dont blame him for being cautious.

Exactly, Starmer has to wait until Covid is over. Keep well away from Brexit.

Then attack the corruption, none stop , every day .

Today is irrelevant.

You might be right however leave yourself as the missing man for too long and you get forgotten

you then become irrelevant

You were calling him unelectable.. I was campaigning for him.

So now you're trying to smear me because I have a different view of our current leader? Classy and hypocritical.

I always supported Jeremy Corbyn as leader, defending against the smears and lies against him. Never have I called him unelectable and was gutted at the last election.

Attacking other Labour voters for supporting Labour and you wonder why the polls favour the Tories.

Starmer certainly has had a free ride. What's he had any amount of grief over? Off the top of my head there was one weekend the Daily Mail had a go at him for owning a field, but in the end that one worked out in his favour.

He's been covering up the leaked report for nearly a year now. It got leaked in the second weekend of April 2020. Imagine the media reaction if Corbyn had buried a report showing his mates on the Labour staff being racist, antisemitic and fraudulent for a year. Starmers had nothing about it.

If Starmer has had a free ride what has Johnson had?
Over 100,000 dead to Covid
Islamaphobia (Where is the report of the "investigation")
Russian Report (Where is it)
Lies,
More lies
And more lies
Cheating on his wife
Doesn't know how many kids he has.
Reportedly wanting a charity to pay £200,000 for his flats redecoration (Whether he did or not- that is how it would be reported if it was a Labour leader)
World beating track and trace
cronysm
Border in the Irish Sea
threatening to break international law
Dominic Cummins
Some more lies

These are not on the front pages because the press are in the Tory pockets- This why the Tories are in front in the polls

The grief that Keir Starmer has had is literally in this thread. From apparent Labour voters attacking Starmer for not being Corbyn.

The Tories just need to point and laugh, while the party fights amongst itself.

As far as the media goes, nothing he says gets any traction, take for example his response to the budget, its a Tory whitewash. Another example is every Sunday on Marr. These are the outlets most viewed by the public and are in the pocket of the Conservatives with their client journalism.

Corbyn bowed at the incorrect angle on remembrance Sunday and got slaughtered.
Miliband looked awkward eating a sarnie and people are still talking about it.
Starmer made an illegal maneuver in a London street, knocked a man off his bike and left the scene before the police arrived. All is forgiven.
