tony pulis discusses his boro period

No club is! Put those players into this seasons squad and we go top 2
Not a chance. Hugill, failed here, can't get a game at Norwich. Downing, failed here, can't get a game for a bottom half club. Mikel, FFS, leave the juice alone, Besic, can't get a game anywhere, Baath, in a side below us in the table.

I'll give you Braithwaite and Randolph but they're not here because we are failing, under Warnock our results are worse than they were under Pulis, and we're still awful to watch, trying to kill games and scrape a result.

Randolph - yes, would walk into the team
Flint & Batth - would be sat on the bench
Besic - no better than what we have got now
Mikel - was class, but was never going to stay
Downing - Version #1 was my one of my favorite players. The sequel was not actually that good.
Hugil - As a non-scoring striker, he would fit in well with the rest of our strikers. Scored less than Britt this season
Braithwaite - Would only be a "gem" if he actually wanted to be here - which he obviously didn't
Mikel stole a living here. Couple of good games when he first came then did nothing. How many games was he subbed to be replaced by Clayton who looked better than he had been.

Besic was better than Saville IMO.

Thought Batth did ok the little we saw him. Never liked Flint but he did OK for Cardiff on Saturday.

Randolph better than what we have now.

Hugil could Warnock have made him decent. Who knows but probably not. Will say I thought he was excellent at Preston so they had a way tp play him.

Downing probably right time for him to leave. Got undeserved stick on here.

Braithwaite should have been great not sure why he wasn't. Good player in there but how many times have we said that.

No we definitely don't, Corcaigh is right about that.

I think you were right saying if we had to sell Traore, go sign Bowen and Watkins at that time.
Christ can you imagine if we had a front line of Bamford, Bowen and Watkins - all absolutely class players.

Mikel wasn't class at all and is stinking the place out at Stoke.
Besic isn't even doing that, he isn't playing anywhere and is cack.

Besic was a weird one. When we signed him I was expecting him to be a tough midfielder with a real nasty edge. He seemed to be that sort of player from what I'd seen of him(not very much, admittedly). He seemed to fancy himself as a bit of a playmaker but all he appeared to do was trap it and then turn around in circles until he lost the ball. He was a really strange player. Nothing like I imagined(same as Ray Parlour in many ways - I was expecting a quick winger with tricks and stuff but he was a real nasty b*stard when he had to be, and could tackle with his whole body... he was nails as well as a really good footballer**). Besic should've been head and shoulders above what we had in the middle of the field at that time but he was nowhere near it.

**I'm only mentioning them in the same breath because they were both completely different players to what I was expecting, I'm not comparing them as players as obviously Parlour is streets ahead on that front.

He talks some amount of *****. Must fancy another job and is trying to stay relevant.

He could have spent 100 million on new players and still wouldn’t have got us top two, his style is long finished in football as is shown by his last few jobs.

I think we do. Not my ideal choices but quality cover where we didn’t have any this season.

Put them in the spaces where we’ve had injuries and we don’t lose as many points.

Some on here have been trained by TP

Ref: Hugill played 19 times for Norwich this season and scored 3 goals.

We're currently 16 points from 2nd place - 6 games in which Randolph and Braithwaite would have been the difference.

Flint - has played a big part for Cardiff
Batth - has been solid for Stoke

those times when we miss Fry and Hall can be adequately patched up with those two.
Downing, Besic & Mikel make the difference to results even at 20-30mins in games when we are missing Tavernier.

they make the difference and that was the point. to say that taking them out of Woodgate's team would have made no difference is crazy.

His time in charge genuinely killed my love of football, I wouldn't wish him on any another club.

I've had a season ticket since 2003, and that season we finished 7th under him was the least I have enjoyed going to the Riverside.

I find it staggering how anyone can defend his time here.

The most negative of all managers I think we've had during our time at The Riverside.

His football was atrocious and it still wasn't successful. You could argue if he succeeded whether his football/tactics/team selections were valid and worth it, but he failed, whilst playing the worst football known to man.

And as for him saying 'if we kept Bamford...etc...we'd have got in the top 2' - one of the main reasons we made the playoffs in his first season was because injuries forced his hand to play Bamford up top!...before that he was thrown out wide or had to settle for a place on the bench at the expense of Rudy F**king Gestede!

The playoffs are evidence of this too. He gave our best striker about 10 minutes of the 180 up front in his natural position...and he has the cheek to say 'if we kept Bamford we'd have finished in the top 2' ?

He spouts more garbage than BJ.

So what are you saying, we should have kept these players (Flint, Downing, Baath) who didn't perform last time and one can't get a game in a bottom half side?

To pay the wages of these three who would you suggest we sell of the current squad. Which two underperforming reserve centre back and reserve left sided midfielder?

Can't even keep his story straight on Bamford. I think he's keenly aware Bamford is making him look a mug this year, so trying to distance himself from the decision to sell him and making out he rated him all along.

I agree, no idea how anyone can defend him. He couldn't lie straight in bed.

Says a lot about Gibson's judgement that he thinks Pulis is some kind of footballing guru. It seems most of the fanbase have a better eye for a player than he does.
