Treading water

We're still hanging in there

For me NW is our best chance of doing anything either this season, or next
Without him at the helm I think with the lack of funds we'll struggle going forward over the next few seasons
Absolutely agree, no point keep changing managers. Warnock‘s record shows we have the best man. He had a correct dig about recruitment and it needing to change. Recruitment is key and we have largely been poor since 2016. We need funds though and if we can’t afford the better players then treading water is better than drowning.

Pretty tough given the pandemic and the state the club was in when Warnock came in.

sides over performed this season. Maybe a change to reset in the summer. Wouldn’t count on it as various managers have said some things aren’t right
Can't blame pandemic as that's same for everyone.

It is but by throwing your only ffit strikers under a bus with public comments in the past few weeks it has pretty much guaranteed that we wont do anything more this season. Not with strikers you wont. You could argue they have done little anyway but with their confidence shot.

We are rudderless, lurching from to plan with no long term vision. The last time we had a long term plan we got promoted under Karanka, then threw it away.

Agnew
Monk
Pulis
Woodgate
Warnock

The last 4 managers have been complete changes in footballing ethos, no wonder we have a disjointed squad and each of the managers have been able to blame previous managers/recruitment team for this imbalance.

I genuinely can’t see the point of keeping Warnock on for another season as this doesn’t address what‘s needed. Are we trying a model like Brentford, are we going to use the academy more, are we going to splurge wages on free transfers, are we looking at potential gems from the lower leagues in England to develop?

The standard of football is incredibly poor although it can’t be denied Warnock is capable of obtaining results through his variation of percentage football. Can you imagine being promoted with this style of football and then watching us being systematically dismantled by teams in the top flight? It’s not sustainable in the long term as proven by the manager‘s lack of success after promotion; he’s done the job he was asked to do but next season we need a long term plan that we stick to, rather than another knee jerk reaction or laughable “got the job because of an amazing powerpoint presentation” appointment.

Everyone talks about a model. Brentford haven't done well because of their model. They have done well because they have good staff in recruitment. And they have yet to gain promotion to the premier League as we did. Models and mission statements are hot air. Sign quality young players and sell them on for a profit while playing high tempo attacking football? Everyone wants to do that. The reality is more often than not you'll end up with what we had last season. Get a decent manager in and sign good players. We are a middle sized team and sometimes we'll be in the top division and sometimes we won't.

Which is a model, is it not?

Brentford have spent 5 years in the top flight in their history. For the past few years they‘ve been run to a pretty successful, sustainable model - where is their academy as an example? Their recruitment has been a massive part of that - but it’s not a model? Don’t be silly.

We‘ve lurched from Monkball ( buy lots of players) to Pulisball (land of the giants and launch the ****** reversion to the 1980s, Bamford is **** and we’ll buy Aiden F***ing Flint and George £6.99m over his true value) to Woodgateball (buy from the lower leagues but then realise you haven’t got the players to play the way you want nor any intelligence in the coaching staff) to Warnockball (recruitment is **** and pass back to the keeper from 70 yards percentage utter turgid *****).

So yes, we do need a model if we want stop lurching from crisis to crisis, identity to identity, boom to bust.

What a load of 5hite from the OP. We have improved massively in less than a year. We've mostly done that without a decent centre forward. We have brought in a number of new players who once fully fit and integrated will make us stronger for the remainder of the season and next season. Did the Op really think we were going to challenge for promotion after last season? We're in the best place we have been since Karanka left in my opinion. Next season we will add new players and kick on and maybe challenge. Change of bed sheets required

We are what we are right now.
We lack quality and intensity.

I get where Aldi is coming from, we appear to be just floating aimlessly along.

I just hope we move on lots of players that are not good enough, not committed enough, or both.

I didn’t expect anything this season and haven’t been surprised. It is very very dull on all levels, but better than last season on most.

Warnock has had 2 transfer windows to bring in a striker.
He has failed to address that problem.
Oh sorry forgot that’s recruitment’s fault isn’t it.

Why would you do that to one of the most interesting and brightest posters?
Each to their own

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but I genuinely think it would be better for them both if they just didn't interact.

Every thread I see Adi post in seems to include Nobby trying to wind him up.

Couldn’t disagree more, Fry, Tav, Bola, Dijksteel, McNair are hardly journeymen, they are very good players at this level with huge potential to play at the top. We have bought badly in the past and we’re still paying for that but I see many reasons to be optimistic about our future, this team doesn’t need a great deal to be good enough to go up. Next season will be a good one

Think people need to take a deep breath and calm down. Warnock has worked miracles with the squad has improved players beyond our wildest dreams and with another window will have us challenging. We're been up and down and inconsistent but there's been no team that's far better than us and that says a huge amount about Warnock and his man management. I'd be delighted if he stayed another season.

I hate what we are at the moment. A misfit rabble of journeymen players, a journeyman manager and a really poor team.

The club has no direction and no ambition. We are rudderless and seem to be going nowhere. Just nothingness.

What is it we are trying to do? Just stay up? Settle for mid-table in the Champo? Is that the sum total of our ambition?
Come on @Adi_Dem. Misfit rabble of journeymen is a bit harsh. You've seen a lot worse. At least they are all an improvement on John Gannon

That’s my point Zorro. Today was a good point. We’ve over achieved this season. But my point is a wider one. What are we? What do we want to be? What’s the plan? What’s the ambition?
so help us out Adi, you say thee is no plan, what should the plan be, what should we be, what should our ambition be?
