What Would a Decent Playoff Run Look Like?

One win from the next two games and we're on track.... I think we might be able to do it. I'd be happy if we ended the season 7th-9th considering where we were last year and ecstatic if we make the play offs. This season has been the transition year last season was meant to be and the foundations are in place for something special to take place over the next few seasons. Hopefully with Neil Warnock in charge for at least the next 2-3 of them!

Halfway Point after 23 games Maximum of 5 defeats, 9/10 wins, 8/9 draws.
Our season will be decided in December and we'll need one hell of a strong finish.

Hopefully we can get our head screwed on as far as having a balanced squad and managing the season. Soak up the pressure, move forward with every opportunity, give the cup ties to the 2nd string and stop giving up the pitch from throw ins and free kicks.
Good number to finish on 74

I will be over the moon if we could get 75 points. I think the biggest danger to us grabbing 6th spot will be Cardiff. McCarthy has made a big difference there and has them in the groove. Agent Woodgate at Bournemouth is a plus for our chances but I fear we may need a couple of the top 6 to slide out, not just Bournemouth.
Onwards, with hope in our hearts and complete faith in Neil and the lads to scrap to the last.

I really was dissapointed with Cardiff today and thought they were there for the taking.
Why we had no one on the back post baffles me .
Betinelli should have been in the middle of that group , either getting fouled , or punching the ball away . He did it second half under the same circumstances.
For 75 minutes we played into their hands , only when we played it on the deck we looked decent , so why not play that way all game against the giants ?
Do we want it enough ?
Barnsley on a great run , Cardiff on a great run , AFCB still hold the spot , we have our great run to come yet ( if it does ) so I will live in hope , but feel that we are not really going for it this season

I think everyone can see where we’ve lost points.. losing Fry and Tavernier have been massive. We’ve limped on missing a striker and at times that has been the only difference.

We’re still in with a chance which is all we could have hoped for. Lots of teams around us with bigger numbers..

We need luck and then some!!

'the make or break' - realistically I think we need to take 10 points away from our next four games to have a chance at the playoffs. 8 points would be automatic promotion form.. which is where we need to find ourselves.

20th Coventry vs Boro W
4th Swansea vs Boro D
10th Boro vs Stoke W
13th Boro vs Preston W 10 points
-------------------------

'the group of death' - I think we'll struggle to get 8 points from these four, a point per game would be a job well done. MASSIVE MASSIVE GAMES six pointers in quick succession, all hands on deck and all of the big lads out of the freezer. I think we'll do well to take four points away. If we can take anything from Bournemouth and or Watford it'll be an extra special brucey bonus.

12th Millwall vs Boro W
6th Bournemouth vs Boro L
3rd Boro vs Watford L
7th Barnsley vs Boro D 4 points
-------------------------

'the banana skins' - these are the teams that think will be a walk in the park, unpredictable teams fighting for survival, players fighting for their futures. massive upsy daisy potential. still we need 10 points from 4 (in my opinion) easier on paper that 'the make or break' but much tougher in real life.

17th Boro vs QPR W
22nd Boro vs Rotherham W
23rd Sheff Wed vs Boro W
14th Luton vs Boro D 10 points
-------------------------

'the typical boro' - it's a long way off and more than likely the chips will have landed and everything will have been decided by the time the last game comes around.. but if we need three points on the last day against the bottom team in the league to reach the playoffs. I guarantee they will be the hardest three points to come across all season. Wycombe with nothing to lose pulling out all the stops and going out in style.

24th Boro vs Wycombe W 3 points
-------------------------

what would a decent playoff run look like? flipping rock hard! can we do it? we have the quality in the team, can we keep all our players fit? can we make all the right decisions as and when required? it's a tough one. we still have a few names in the bag that can still make a massive impact at the end of our season.

Mendez-Laing - showing little bursts of his former self
Bolasie - a run in the team staying fit would be massive
Fletcher - get some mr miyag rubs on that hamstring kidda
Spence - is he? isn't he? would love to see him blow everyone out of the water with a Tavernier like workrate!

cup finals? we haven't made it through the group stages. eight wins only takes eight goals, three bore draws and we're cooking on gas
two runs of five unbeaten games sounds almost manageable.. tlf prayer mats and a shrine to ewe fuchs at the ready!

3 points behind predicted.

We looked like a top two team today. U7s would have taken the flag off the ref today. Not fit to referee. Simple as. So bad. Fans deserve much more than this.

We looked good at times but carrying passengers. Saville, Spence, Akpom all dreadful. Nothing left to play for. Give the lad Kavanaugh a shot upfront

Neil certainly needs to fook some of this squad off, numerous chances and little improvement from the likes of spence and akpom again today, one even coming on as sub to be hauled back off again, is fisher injured?

It’s like said on other threads were not liked . We’re getting robbed week in week out and if we did finish top 6 they’d ( refs ) shaft us then . Neil needs to keep calm during the games and button it with them - they’re having the last laugh every week

Spence coming off after coming on isnt as bad as it sounds. If Dyksteel hadnt got injured and match went the same way. It would of been Dyksteel to make way for a more direct attacking player. That being said Spence was rubbish. We had 10 quality performances including subs that came on but too many passengers in that team that need shipping out.

i have us finishing with 73 and that invludes beating watford, so i think it is unliklley now for us, problem is kids wont be givena chance until we are out of it.

Well Neil Warnock doesn’t think so. Appears even he thinks it’s gone.

“I have a feeling we will be playing them here again next season” in a barbed comment that Swansea are not good enough to go up

If VAR was there today we won 2-1 ( or a ref who didn't have a bet on Swansea )
If we play like that every game we still have a chance
