Why is Wayne Rooney Derby Manager..

Hasn't done too bad since he took over. A lot better than I thought he would. He always had game intelligence and was tactically astute on the pitch. Fergie would regularly play him out on the left away in Europe because he had the tactical nouse to carry off the role and later dropped into a midfield role. He may have a better football brain than you are giving him credit for

He was an absolutely top player so will have the players respect immediately. County Derby needed that as they were seriously battling relegation at one point.

I too doubted him, I thought Derby would go from bad to worse under him, but he's certainly proven me wrong when you look at how he's taken a team from the relegation zone and about 6 points from safety to one that looks like it'll comfortably stay in the league.

Agreed. I think Newy is being a tad harsh on him

Liam Rosenior can also write. Rooney may not have much polish, but he has always been a reflective thinker. Once you get past the scally accent he talks a lot of sense.

In pretty much the same way Robson was given the job with us. Highly respected footballer within the game who it is hoped would have immediate success. In our case it did.

But whether it’s a long term success we can only wait.

Jeezo! How long do we have to wait? That was 25 years ago man!

This ⬆️
A massive name who has achieved loads as a player, who could attract players to the club of the back of it and would hope to carry that success into management.

Were we ever Bryan Robsons Middlesbrough, I honestly can't remember, or was football just different back then?

Were we ever Bryan Robson's Middlesbrough?

Yes! The first rung of the ladder for the next few seasons. Without Robson, the foundation wouldn't have happened. And then then the momentum, belief and excitement
Small town in Europe and all that.

Gibson getting Robson was the building block. That was exciting and new back in the day

That wasn’t my point.
You’ve misunderstood me.
Sky sports news if it was around in 94 might have called us that who knows. Who cares ? Is it important?

Isn’t this what Derby are doing with Rooney? And previously with frankie lamps before he f££Jed off to chelsea

I couldn’t tell you what Liam rosenier achieved as a player (if I’m being honest I can’t even remember who he played for....)
