The abuse that Bettinelli has been getting

Seems to be at fault for many of our goals sadly. Didnt woody drop pears to take him out the firing line? I have no confidence in him, he's shocking at close range and 1 on 1's

We've had some good keepers in the past like Given, Ikeme and Randolph then the likes of Valdes (was it him or Guzan boro fans actually wanted sending off as their performance was so shocking that day) and Steele who eventually became a target for the boo boys

I wouldn't attach much blame to him for the goals against Bristol to be fair. He made a decent save at 0-0, wasn't to blame for two definitely. Debateable as to whether he could or should have been more aware and off his line for the other goal but I think that's probably on the harsh side. The team was awful and so I wouldn't attach any blame to the keeper for that.

Opinions aside on his ability for the moment, does anyone else find the very personal, mocking abuse directed at him recently, distasteful?

I've seem a multitude of nicknames for him, none of them funny, and some of the comments cross the line for me.

Criticism of natural of course and no footballer is immune to it, but some people seem to get a kick from it.
its absolutely no different to the stick previous bad keepers got such as brad jones, Jason steel, Ben Roberts. If the fans were back in the ground it would be far worse.

You got any references to this abuse? For me hes a really poor keeper who rarely saves a shot and people want a better keeper cant see anything wrong with that. People making up daft names for him, think someone called him nohands the other day, hardly abuse is it.

Same with britt, saville and akpom they get stick but its hardly abuse... always been the case with football.

I've got to be honest the stick he's been getting hasn't seemed that personal to me, but I don't really get involved in football related social media as its clearly full of idiots.

I think its fine to have a pop about his performances, they have been pretty poor.

When the abuse starts going towards racist or personal and being aimed at family members and things like that its too far, but I haven't seen much of that.

Saying all that, if you're a footballer why in hell would you have a social media account, just doesn't seem worth the hassle. If it was really needed I think I'd just pay somebody to manage it for me.
