Bottom 3 in Premier League look doomed...

said a wee while ago that Shef Utd might still get out of it, they have a great manager, I know it is highly unlikely, but if they can re-produce the form of last season before lockdown they have an outside chance , apparently they gave Man City a good game recently

difficult to see past the current bottom 3, unless one of the 3 teams within touching distance has a complete and utter meltdown.

Fingers crossed its Newcastle that go on the longest win less streak in premier league history

If any of the three are going to get out of it, it'll be Sheffield for me - great manager, functional football, and never give up - think they can see a possibility now which will motivate them

Fulham fancy themselves as playing "nice" football but that won't get them safe, and I think Big Fat Sam's time has run out - he doesn't even look that interested during matches

Yeah, but that doesn't really back up your point that the top teams need to leave when the bottom 3 teams have all taken points off the current champions/future champions this season.
I think it does, the stats show the gulf between them is only getting bigger.
Just looking at one game is like saying my uncle Tony smoked 100 woodbines a day and he's 90 running marathons

History is against Sheffield United and the gap significant to Brighton, but if they stick together and the club doesn't remove Wilder they have the organisation and spirit to get out of it. If there's one thing about them it's fight and togetherness.

West Brom will go and spoil Big Sam's record of not having been relegated.

Highly likely the bottom 3 will go
Sheff U getting a bit of momentum (and have historically survived after terrible starts a couple of times) but they will have to keep it going right to the end of the season - which is a big ask

Someone ALWAYS makes it....... there is always one surprise in the season. I'd pick Sheff Utd out of the current bottom three. Fulham are gone.

I think there's only Fulham who can get out of the bottom 3 of the teams currently down there and I don't think they'll do it.

They have 1 game in hand on Newcastle (who look like the only potential team Fulham can catch), but they're still 8 points off them.

If Newcastle lose to Saints this weekend, their next few fixtures are awful on paper and if Fulham can manage to nick a couple of wins, then it may look a lot different.

Next 4:
Fulham have West Ham (H), Everton (A), Sheff Utd (H), Palace (A)
Newcastle have Saints (H), Chelsea, (A), Man Utd (A), Wolves (H)

As for the rest of the teams, Burnley have Dyche, and then Wolves & Brighton aren't bad defensively.

I can't remember the last time that all 3 teams at the bottom were so cut adrift at this point.

After 22 games:

Last season - Villa were 1 point from safety, Bournemouth were 2.
18/19 - Newcastle were 1 point from safety, Fulham were 5.
17/18 - Stoke were in on goal difference, West Brom and Swansea were 4 points from safety.
16/17 - Crystal Palace and Hull were 2 points from safety, Sunderland were 3.
15/16 - Newcastle were 1 point from safety, Sunderland were 4.
14/15 - Hull and QPR were 1 point from safety, Leicester were 3.
13/14 - West Ham, Sunderland and Cardiff were 1 point from safety.
12/13 - Aston Villa were in on goal difference, Reading were 3 points from safety, QPR were 5.
11/12 - Blackburn and Wolves were 1 point from safety, Wigan were 4.
10/11 - Wolves were in on goal difference, Wigan were 1 point from safety, West Ham were 2.

That's the last 10 seasons, occasionally the bottom team has been cut adrift at this point, and I've omitted them, but 18th and 19th have never been so far out of it at this point in the Premier League era.

They are all doomed, particularly with Brighton picking up points now.

With Man City looking like they will walk the league now they've kicked into gear it isn't going to be a classic PL year.

Agree with this.

Couple weeks back I thought we may have a good title challenge on our hands, but since then, Pep has just kept City solid and they've steam rolled everyone. They just don't look like conceding ever.

It looks like the fight for top 4 will be the most 'exciting' part of the PL this season....but no doubt Skysports will make out everything is rosey and perfect and us fans are lucky to have such a league. 😴😴
