Mowbray - You're a WEASEL

Some posts in this thread probably are a bit over emotional.

But then other ones read like kids trying to show off how rock 'ard they are. Fouls like the one yesterday blatantly don't happen every week. Why pretend they do?

I don't really ever care about manager interviews after matches as they're usually just cliches. I do think its a bit weird of Mowbray to start rambling on about it being a mans game and slating Warnock for being annoyed at the incident.

If I’d of being him which is easier as I’ve had thinking time I’d of said

“ I saw it and will have a chat with him . He’s a young lad learning his trade but you just can’t do that . I’m confident he’ll listen to me and point out we couldn’t complain if he got a card . Hope the lad is ok and we’ll check in on him as soon as we can “ .

That would have done it I’m sure .
I think that's what the vast majority of posters on this thread think yet they've been shouted down by a certain section who think Mogga can do no wrong.

Knowing that you are idolised comes with a heavy responsibility.

I'm happy to move on... As long as we rename this forum and remove any reference of Tony Mowbray and the club! 😂

In all seriousness, for me personally because I always thought of him so highly it hurt me that he was just so not bothered by it.
Just like it hurt me when he was so negative about the last game (but not in the same way obviously).

Anyway on we roll. It's good to have these debates and it keeps us all from being too bored eh.

This thread is entertaining.

What did people expect, Mowbray to throw his own player under the bus? Why does it matter that he used to play for us? Doesn't make one jot of difference.

If Fry had done that to Branthwaite, Warnock would give the same interview, actually any manager would.

Finally if we had won nobody would be kicking off at Mowbray like they have been doing. He will always be a Boro legend for what he did during his time here as a player.

Thats all anyone expected, even Rob I'm sure. I don't know the circumstances, maybe Mogga was emotional, more emotional that NW, but given time to reflect and having watched it back, you think he'd have at least admitted that it was dangerous.

Yesterday I was disappointed in Mogga, and given his Liverpool Echo comments today, I am even more disapointed. I'm sure he doesn't really care these days about the feelings of random Boro fans, but he really could have set the record straight.

One thing I hope to see is something come out where Mogga (and Branthwaite) had already spoken with Dael Fry. That would really restore my love and admiration of him, as I'm sure it would many others. We don't know what goes on, especially in the heat of battle, but as many others have said, I expected better from him.

Anyway, as someone else has said above, this thread has shown a lot of emotion, but we are all Boro fans at the end of the day, and I think it's time to move on. 3 points on Wednesday and we'll all be happy. Maybe a mask wearing Dael Fry could nod in the winner from a corner?

He didn't have to throw him under the bus. All he had to do was acknowledge that it was recklesss play and that he needs to learn from it.

Surely Mowbray will have had a word with him after the game, and told him that it was recklesss and he needs to be aware of where other players are on the pitch if he's going to go in with a high boot. If not, then I'd say it's pretty worrying, as the lad will feel he has done no wrong and won't learn from it.

Also, if Fry had have done it then I'd have expected Warnock to acknowledge it as being reckless. On a human level, I'd have felt sympathy for the opposition player.

He probably has acknowledged it happened. Why does he have to do that publicly? I'm pretty sure it will have been discussed when the Blackburn players and staff watch the game back from Sunday. Yes the lad is young, yes it was a penalty and a red card, you'd hope the lad learns from it because 9.99 times out of ten it's a sending off offence and penalty.

How do we know if Branthwaite and Fry haven't been in touch and discussed the incident? Just because it isn't public knowledge doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

Part of me thinks this thread is trying to deflect away from a **** poor performance from the lads on Sunday. Apart from the first 10 minutes of the second half where they looked like they'd had a bollocking from Warnock at half time it was dreadful to watch.

He was asked to give an honest opinion on the incident, that's all he needed to do. He wouldn't have been throwing the lad under the bus by acknowledging that it was reckless. It's not a criticism, it's just acknowledging that the young lad made a mistake and will hopefully learn from it.

I think what was most disappointing however wasn't the fact he denied he'd seen it, but his comment about Warnock going on about it for 70 minutes. Warnock had every right to be angry and Mowbray making that comment made him appear almost dismissive of the severity of the incident.

Mogga let himself down.

He has a few die hard loyalists on here and I respect that but a lot of us will never again look upon him as the hero we did in our younger days.

He was a centre half and he’s getting on a bit now, that’s the only excuse I can offer for him I’m afraid.

I don't think it's a matter of being a 'die hard loyalist', it's about having a little perspective. Good people make errors of judgement and get things wrong. It happens all the time. They don't suddenly become weasels or scumbags, or whatever.

Yes and I respect their views, I haven’t called Mowbray any names but I’m deeply disappointed in his comments after this incident, I would go so far as to say he thought his boy did good.

Like I said, it’s maybe that time has caught up with him.
