Keeping the ball near the corner flag

Sure we were first team to start doing that under Big Jack. We used to get crucified for doing it. Part of the game now😄
Not too sure if that's the case red with us been the 1st but we did get hammered for our style even though we were so dominant throughout the whole season & brushing teams apart with ease

We deffo used it when Jack was manager and cannot think of any club or international team doing it previous to that. Happy to be proved wrong though 😊

You could be right red, I just cant remember Boro doing it that much TBH, if we did it must have been carried out throughout the country by all teams
I was merely saying we got bad press for our 'dour football', in the media's eyes

Yes you are right there Erimus. Even when we slaughtered teams 1-0:)

I used to hate it in Big Jacks time. Foggon and Craggsy at it - very well of course. That said My dad, who used to get annoyed when they were doing swore the refs used to add on more time than we were wasting because they hated it as well.

I remember a 9 game winning streak under Jack in 73/74 season. 3 of those we won 4-0 and the press still said we were a dour team. I absolutely loved watching that team home and away.

i recall Jimmy Hill having a dig at the tactic when we featured for the only time on MoTD in 73-74 away to Villa. He praised our style of play overall but that we didn’t need to employ such negative tactics.

Didn't understand why , at the end, the keeper was still hoofing the ball up. Surely it would have been better to retain possession and start from the back?
