OK 30 years old but 64 goals in 147 for Luton. Another hat trick today. Watching his goals in the last few years he seems a natural goalscorer. Maybe worth a bid?

Can't fault his returns with Luton, not sure he's worth the punt when you account for his age though.

Do you remember all those prolific goalscorers we have signed over the years? And when they come here they end up being rubbish. What is it with this club that turns a goalscorer rubbish. Rhodes, Britt, Scott MacDonald, Trevor Senior, Peter Davenport.- all goalscorers at their clubs, but when they come here....?

Andy Payton too

But a whole series of managers here have performed the same trick, so there must be more to it than that.
Ingleby, just seen this response....yes, the difference is Neil Warnock has a real authentic personality: players are genuinely impacted by his words because he is genuinely interested in their progress as footballers and as a person. He does this whilst demonstrating the most important attribute within his persona ; he speaks his mind to players then forgives and forgets.
Brilliant attribute to promote trust with players.

He can genuinely say what he thinks (and is frequently correct with his analysis because of his experience) and then let it go with players: this ingredient builds trust in players.

Good player this lad. Always impressed every time I've seen him. Not sure if he's for sale, but I would for a season or two.

Nothing against this player, he may be very good, I've just not seen him play much.

I think there are 2 mistakes we shouldn't keep making:

1. signing strikers on the basis of goals scored. This has gone wrong often enough that we should know the players don't bring their figures with them. If he suits our style AND has good stats, fair enough.

2. Signing the best performers we can from other Championship clubs. They are always relatively expensive, and rarely make the step up to the PL (if they were good enough for that, they'd be going there, rather than to us).

I often think back that if we did actually sign a Ray Hankin, Dave Cross, Paul Mariner, Andy Gray, Willie Pettigrewwwwww, back in the mid 70's when we needed a special goalscorer to take us to the next level & these names were branded about, would they have nosedive in the goalscoring charts

No thanks, I would sooner loan Bolasie and Grosicki first and then and only then, bring in a striker if the money was there. If we say brought in that Irish striker from Arsenal, he would not score a bucket load without the supply line being properly sorted first.
