Kieffer Moore or Assombalonga?

I have said my piece on Assombalonga many times on here.
I have simply lost patience with him.
Too many scuffed shots, over the bar, wide or safely into the hands of the keeper.
He never seems to strike the ball cleanly, it bounces more times than a dambusters bomb every time he hits it.
His control is poor, his heading, unless its below shoulder height is non existant.
He cannot tackle cleanly, he gives the ball away far too many times and concedes more free kicks than anybody else on the pitch.
He must be a dream to mark because he rarely moves.

so back to the question.
Would I have Kiefer Moore instead of Britt?.
I would have Demi Moore instead of Britt.

Fortunately for you Demi isn’t that fussy nowadays 🧐

What is consistently.... 5-6 goals a season for £15 million, utter rubbish. Most very average striker score that and cost £1.5 million

He’s got in double figures each season he’s been here so 100% better than 5-6 . If warnock improves him Hel be close to 20 this season which is what we’d expect for £15m

Great assist by Ings today. Anyone happen to know how many assists Britt has made?
Not many I suspect.

Britt will score you far more goals. He's scored 15 15 and 13 (I think). That's far more than Moore.

That said they are completely different in style. I would argue Moore would definitely suit our style more. That said he gets about 8 goals a season but takes a kicking.

I think a bigger question would be Britt and Moore would be a decent front 2. They have traits that could compliment.

Are you happy now that I’ve corrected the title? It took me 2 years to learn how to spell Asambelongar.

This is exactly right. Add in that he has no football intelligence at all, he always makes the wrong run or plays the wrong pass and it sums him up entirely. I hope he is shipped out in Jan, but I doubt any other club would want him.

We vastly overpaid for Assombalonga but that’s not his fault, I think his long term injury at Forest has restricted his development as a player, he became less mobile and lost half a yard of pace in my opinion.

At Championship level he’s a 1 in 3 striker and doesn’t have a lot to his game in terms of link up play, and his lack of mobility means we don’t create space in and around him, which in the past has contributed to our lack of goals as a team, under Warnock he had seemed to up his work rate and try and contribute more outside the box, hopefully when he’s recalled he’ll continue that trait, but he does miss too many important chances to be the main striker in a team looking to gain automatic promotion.

Moore would contribute more in terms of assists and creation of space for others but he won’t score as many goals as Assombalonga himself however he chose to go to South Wales and it’s Warnock’s task to get the most out of the personnel we’ve got or look at free agents that he thinks might improve us.

I can never understand why posters run down a player who wears a Boro shirt on a forum and hanker after another player who plays for a rival club and didn’t want to come here.

I'd like to know how many people have watched Keiffer Moore more than a handful of times over 90 minutes.

Last season was his first proper season at this level, and I'd assume most of us were watching Boro at 3pm on Saturdays when Moore's team were also playing.

Yes, there'll be a few who have, but there'll be more who had barely heard of him until this summer and saw him for the first time this weekend.

the forest thing is spot on, that injury severely affected him and he lost a fair bit of pace. He simply isn’t the same player he was before. I know a few forest fans and they laughed a lot that we paid that much for him. They didn’t want him in their team anymore as although he scored quite regularly having him on the pitch hampered the rest of the team and they played a lot worse when he was in the team. Which seems very familiar to me.

Yes I agree and how destructive is it to publicly slate our team captain? What is that all about?

Everybody wants the best for Boro. It really isn’t about being destructive, its about realism and honesty. Some people thrive on criticism, some buckle. The reality is that £15M could have bought us a quality striker or No10, and a pair of quality pacy wingers at that time. The fee as stated is not Britts fault, it is I guess Gibson’s. Boro are his toy, it is his money, he rolled the dice and it didn’t pay off. Britt was never what the squad really needed. We had Bamford, we needed pace and creativity and width, we bought 2 centre forwards that were lightweight and lacking pace and strength. Due diligence was not done on spending under Monk. That said, I am not sure we have ever played to his perceived strengths. Britt seems a lovely fella, just not the type of striker that compliments our squad.

I realise I am like a scratched record, but to get out of this league, and STAY out, you need pace, creativity coupled with strength in depth, effort and team spirit. It pains me to say it, but Leeds (eventually) went about it with aplomb. We had a decent defence, and the makings of a promotion squad and a combination of Monk, Pulis and Gibson made some truly shocking transfer decisions and we are where we are. Thankfully we have a proper manager in charge who is eking more from the squad than the some of its parts (imho).

The mood when we signed Britt was extremely positive. Its easy enough saying in hindsight he cost too much or we should have spent the money on something else, but had we let Britt go somewhere else at the time, having had the money available, we'd have been criticised by a very significant cohort of our fans for 'not showing ambition' at the time. Sometimes you can't win.

Britt was one of the hottest properties in the division when we signed him. 3 years on he hasn't built on that at all, but he is a consistent Championship striker and actually outperformed Moore last season in terms of goals, even in what was a relatively disappointing season for him.

My point is more that Britt’s place in the team and as our club captain is not the player’s choice. So whilst he is here and wearing the shirt I think every fan should get behind him. It’s not as if the team is struggling just now either, things are looking better than they have for a number of seasons.
