Watched it for the first time ever last night. Wasn't as unsettling and gory as I was expecting, but I guess having only heard things about it over the years without actually seeing it (I was a little apprehensive) I'd built it up too much in my head...

It's one of my all time favourites, I think Hopkins' performance is pretty unsettling but it's certainly not a gory film. Don't be tempted to watch the sequel Hannibal, it's nowhere near as good and just boring for the most part.

I actually watched that a few years ago which was probably a bit daft having not seen TSOTL...

I watched the remake of Last House on the Left the other night, now that was unsettling in parts 😐

The movie was never intended to be gory, more psychological than anything.

The book has more graphic detail and is an excellent read as is its prequel Red Dragon.

The Hollywood Red Dragon movie was pants but the original Manhunter movie starring William Petersen as Will Graham and Brian Cox as Hannibal Lecktor was excellent.

The prequel Red Dragon was originally made into a film with Brian Cox as Lecter. That's worth a watch I reckon Scuba.
I started reading the novel years ago and never picked it up again for some reason! I'll have to get it read then watch the film if it's not too disturbing...

I quite liked the Red Dragon movie.
