New I Phone

Coming under pressure from young un to get the new I phone, for her not me, apparently just about to be released.
Before I get bogged down in all the sales jargon and "package this" and "package that".
Anybody in the know with some guidance?

It very much depends on what you want to do with your phone. The latest iPhones are always excessively priced and there’s no point getting one if you aren’t going to use all it’s features whrn you can get a older model cheaper that does everything you need.

Photos, social media, internet, calls and texts, that’s pretty much all I use mine for and any iPhone released in the last few years will do that to a very high standard. Mine is 1.5 years old but the camera is still good enough that I don’t take anything else when I go fishing.

It will be used as a mobile social media portal.
She has a 7 which is fine, but peer pressure and all that.
So I will need to shell out for the new one.

The new ones have 5G.

They have a fancy superfast processor, enhanced night-mode camera and can do some cool LiDar stuff. You don't get a charger or earphones anymore either so it's better for the environment..........

I'd never heard of Lidar until last week. There were some workmen doing it on our street. What is it and why would they be doing that?

No you don't need to shell out for a new one. Tell her she has to work or save for it or maybe her "peers" will chip in.
Changing the subject slightly. I would not have an Iphone given no matter what my peers said. Of about five of my friends who had one a few years ago there is only one who sticks with Apple and he always whinges about it.

Couldn't agree more

How do you know when someone doesn’t have an iPhone? Because they bust a gut to tell everyone how bad they are.

Fantastic piece of kit, I’ve got an iPhone 11, I had a 7 for 3 years previously. Not an Apple fanboy as I’ve had Samsung’s in the past and I have a Samsung Work Phone, they don’t even compare. The iPhone is a vastly superior phone.

I would not think that she really needs the 5G option at the moment. I would guess that you could get away with one of the prior models that said the new iPhone does have the smaller version which might help her because of her hand size. I have read a lot of reviews where women especially have said that they prefer it because it is a size that they can use

Only 14 and has a range of domestic chores which need to be kept up, or privileges withdrawn.

Never owned or used anything Apple so have nothing to compare Android to, am sure they are great phones, i just don't want or need one, especially not for their prices. I like what Samsung have to offer and it does everything i need it to and more.

I have a OnePlus which is very good and a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than the equivalent iPhone. That said I think that there are security issues with Android
